There was a pretty close vote as to whether or not the Sabres should go after Grabovski or not in my poll from earlier.
I saw what Grabovski said in regard to Carlyle:
"Don’t put me on a [expletive] third line and then [expletive] play [me] six minutes in a game."
That is amazing. I love the fire right there and he also called him a "stupid coach." Imagine what he would do if he played for Ruff...probably wouldn't be the best relationship there.
I always find it entertaining for NHL players to tell us how much they think they are worth. Today, Stephen Weiss of the Panthers asked for $6M. The former 1st round pick (4th overall) by the Panthers in 2001 is 30 years old.
In his most productive seasons, statistical wise, he hit 28 goals and 61 points, separately. He's talented and a great player to have on the team, but no way I'd pay $6M for him. He was just at $3.1M last season...not sure I'd go up much higher at all.
I've always thought that if I were a hockey player, I wouldn't be as greedy as them. I'd be willing to take a hit in salary in order to help the team. If you look at Jordan Leopold, he has to be one of the most cap-friendly players in the game. He's not even over $3M and he's a respectable player.
I think it would be an interesting idea to create a National Bloggers Association (here's the NBA I referred to in the title), where teams and websites can sign writers/bloggers to contracts. It'd be similar to actual transactions in hockey. Imagine writers getting traded to cover different teams or being locked up for a multi-year contract.
The idea could go pretty deep, and it makes me wonder what I'd be worth as a writer...
