Nightmare season becomes worse

A few hours ago, I was looking forward to the Bruins/Sabres game getting started. But as the Sabres bench started to become shorter and shorter due to injuries, I couldn't wait until this one was over.

The biggest one obviously, was the injury Matt Hackett suffered in goal. The Sabres say he never left the arena and will travel back with the team. It's never good to see a goaltender make his NHL debut because of an injury, but Connor Knapp got a chance to play, and allowed one goal.

Along with Hackett, Matt D'Agostini (lower body), Christian Ehrhoff (mild concussion) and Chris Stewart (ankle) were all injured in today's game and will not play tomorrow.

"It doesn't look good right now. We'll wrap him up as best we can, get him back home, have our doctors look at him." - Ted Nolan

Aside the injuries, the Bruins were too much for Buffalo. Boston controlled the game and Rask kept the lead secure. The Sabres had some decent chances, but only Hodgson could score.

Nice to see Hodgson get his 20th of the year, which is the first time he's reached that in his young career.

John Scott and Zdeno Chara were eventually tossed from the game late in the third period for saying mean things to each other. I understand what the officials were trying to avoid, but Scott was thrown out for being John Scott, for the second time of the game.

The hit from Jake McCabe on Daniel Paille has already started controversy, but I didn't see anything wrong with the hit. Paille was in an awkward position and a bit off balanced, but McCabe didn't deserve a major penalty....or should I say a 5 minute interference penalty!

It's unfortunate that Paille was injured on the play, but I don't agree with the on ice call, and I don't think a suspension is in store either.

Here is the hit:

"He tried to go through me. I kept my hands down. It’s just kind of an unfortunate play. I think his head was down. It’s too bad" -Jake McCabe

Thoughts?

As always, thank you for reading!
