Happy 4th of July, everyone!

It's sounding more and more like Daniel Briere is heading to Montreal, and that's my bet as to where he will end up. Of course, nothing is official, but I could definitely see him going to the Canadiens.

Since it's safe to say that Briere isn't coming to Buffalo, is it worth it for the Sabres to pursue Grabovski.

In my post from earlier this afternoon, which you can view here, readers voted that Clarke MacArthur has the best chance of any former Sabres free agents to return to blue and gold this offseason. I'll say that I agree with you and along with Lydman, those are the only two out of the ones I listed that I really wouldn't mind seeing come back.

With the news today of Toronto buying out Mikhail Grabovski, I couldn't help but think that the Sabres need a center. Could he be the answer?

Grabovski is a 29-year-old center who has played his last five seasons with the Maple Leafs, scoring 20 goals on three separate occasions, one of them being a 29-goal season. He had a cap hit of $5.5M, and is a young center that I'm sure someone will pick up....

However, there's a reason Toronto bought him out. Many say despite his stats, he hurt the team and wasn't worth it. He also scored just two points in the playoffs (seven games) and was a -10.

I'm not saying I want Grabovski. I think his stats are there, and the Sabres do need a center, but is he worth the potential problems and cap hit?

This is unlikely to happen, but imagine if the Sabres were to acquire both MacArthur and Grabovski, a pair of Maple Leafs. You can laugh all you want, but which team made the playoffs last year? It wasn't Buffalo.

What are your thoughts on this?

On a side note, here's a little conversation I had on Twitter with Andrew Peters and Jay McKee during draft day:
