Here's a player who is going to be effective more often than not. Steve Ott has played for the Stars his entire NHL career until this season. He can hit. He can fight. He can score goals.
Ott was a 1st round (25th overall) selection in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He will turn 30 years old this Sunday and the Sabres have him locked up for the next two seasons at just under $3M.
I think he's going to become a fan favorite this season, if he's not already. Ott brings more excitement to the lineup than guys like Patrick Kaleta, Cody McCormick and Paul Gaustad. He's more of a threat on the ice, too.
Ott has hit the 20 goal plateau once during his NHL career, but he also had 19 in another year. He's been putting up 30-40 points in the past few seasons in Dallas.
