I think it's safe to say that Robyn Regehr didn't have his best season during his first year as a Sabre in 2011-2012. In 76 games, he put up just five points (1 G, 4 A) and was a -12 on the year.
He also fell to allow a goal late in the season, but we're not going to talk about that. I'm honestly not a big fan of Regehr, but he has played 900 NHL games and I think he will improve this season.
I realize that he is not going to do much on offense, but what about the toughness? I don't think I've ever seen him win a fight. Last season, he had 56 penalty minutes, the 2nd fewest in his career.
He did have this hit on Alex Ovechkin, though:
If Regehr doesn't improve this season, he may become my least favorite defenseman since the days of Craig Rivet/Steve Montador.
I really hope he has a better season, and I believe he will.
My prediction: 77 GP, 4 G, 12 A, 16 PTS
