The Carolina Hurricanes have signed prospect Jamieson Rees to a three-year entry-level contract.

Rees was selected 44th overall by the Hurricanes in last year’s NHL Draft. He spent the 2019-20 season with the OHL’s Sarnia Sting, where he scored 18 goals and 61 points in 39 games. Rees was in contention for a spot on Canada’s World Juniors team this year, however, he was part of the final group of players to be cut from the roster.

The Hurricanes also made another move, placing defenseman Roland McKeown on waivers. The team recently inked McKeown to a one-year extension and loaned him to a team in Sweden’s highest professional league.
