Carolina Hurricanes prospects Noel Gunler and Zion Nybeck have both been named to Sweden’s final roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship.

The news comes after Sweden released their final player before the tournament, cutting defenseman Helge Grans.

Gunler and Nybeck were two of 14 forwards named to the team’s roster. Both players will be competing in the tournament for the first time and Nybeck will also still be eligible to play in next year’s tournament as well. They will join Ryan Suzuki and Vasiliy Ponomarev as the four Hurricanes prospects competing in the tournament.

Sweden was the last of the ‘Big Five’ teams to finalize their roster. They will open up then tournament on Dec. 26 against Czech Republic.
