I really thought Reimer was going to get this start a couple days ago. Husso has been a bit off. And I hope we don't get more people on here saying Lyon should get starts. They should ride Reimer for a couple and see if he can right this ship.

Lyon should get some starts as he single handily carried Florida to the playoffs last year . Without his stellar goaltending Florida does not get in. What is wrong with seeing what he can do. The only reason that he is not getting starts is because Yzerman does not want a goalie controversy if Lyon outplays Husso

C'mon.....Reimer is already outplaying Husso and he should get the nod 1st after Husso. Lyon was hired to be the insurance goalie, 3rd in the pecking order. The only reason he is still up with the Wings is because he would be plucked from them if he was waived. He will be the 3rd wheel til the other two fail.

Here's what I see as an issue: Goaltending stinks....at times, D stinks....at times, Offense stinks....at times, playing hard for a full 60 stinks....at times. We can say Husso needs this, Reimer needs that, Lyon should the other. The reality is that everything needs to be tweaked, but from a purely G perspective we need consistentcy. It's just not there. NYR simply bombarded the net, and the defense was lacking. Get Lyon down for conditioning. Husso probably needs some re-work while Reimer gets more time. We have to find an aggregated team balance and consistency in the net. Frankly, if Lyon shines in GR and Husso & Reimer barf all over the ice, why would we not put him in? We don't have any other choice if Husso & Reimer take a dump.....Not saying Lyon needs to start a NHL game, but what choice is left if (BIG "if") both G stink up the joint.

Just sayen....

5 against is tough but you can't really fault him on 4 of them, a couple uncontested deflections and some in close turnovers aren't the goalies fault. Seemed like they barely got out of their end at all until the 3rd period.

Right now it's pretty clear that Husso needs to sit as he's not getting the job done. I don't fault him for all the goals last night... but he can't seem to make that "big save" that this team needs once in a while. Reimer should get the start for the next couple of game by default IMO. I would like to see Lyon get a conditioning stint in GR so he can get some actual playing time in. If Reimer craps the bed and can't help this team... then I'm fine with giving Lyon a couple starts. Yes... I know a couple others on this thread disagree and that's fine... whatever. I don't give two $hits about a "goalie controversy". Yzerman and LaLonde need to ice the best team they can. And right now it's not Husso. Let's see what Reimer can do and go from there. The Wings may end up needing Lyon... like it or not.

I believe Hutchinson is still in GR along with Cossa and Lethemon. I think Stevie may keep Hutch and trade Lyon. But Lyon needs to go on the conditioning stint to show if he is worth trading for. He also has a 2yr contract, which may cause other concerns.
Update: Lethoman is now with the Walleye. But now there is 3 in Toledo. Maybe they want Bednar to come up to GR????

If I didn’t cover the team (which is a blessing) I would have turned the game off. It was like watching the young alumni take on whatever local organization for charity. 2 completely different leagues to start that one and I’m running out of questions to ask about starting and being ready. The goalie situation makes no sense right now and we have 2, maybe 3 D that can skate in their own zone. Not fun

This trend of not ready when the puck drops is ridiculous...... they need to figure it out quickly, coaches, players.... it is hard to watch and furthermore hard to wrap your head around to explain why they perform like this.... are they listening to Barry Manilow or Andy Gibb or John Denver prior to the game...seems like it, its unacceptable, your in the NHL, show enthusiasm and effort...... I just read what Brady Tkachuk said about the Senators fans booing them and his frustration because the team is playing hard without the result they want, but they play start to finish.... that's not much to ask, effort.... and please sit Husso.. . I could careless about a goalie controversy, it's not like we have Hasek, Roy and Broeduer wanting the net... make it be earned... .
