Flahr stumped heavily for Andrae to make the NHL roster but said that decision ultimately belongs to John Tortorella.

Where does he fit? Assuming Angelo is traded.

Sanheim-Risto
Staal-York
Seeler-Walker
Zamula

Walker could drop to the 7 spot. Andrae is capable of beating out Zamula.

Beyond that, though, there very easily could be injuries during camp. Most years, there's at least one or two.

Can Andrae play on his off side?

Andrae could beat Zamula, sure, but Zamula has to be waived if he's not going to be on the roster. And I didn't even mention Mete or Ginning.

Frankly, I have my doubts that 21 year old Andrae is going to make the Flyers roster out of camp when Cam York couldn't.

Andrae has some defensive adjustments to make. With the puck on his stick, he's NHL ready. Last year, York came to camp with a job to lose, got on Torts' bad side, and lost it. (But to his credit, bounced right back and had a good year).

Do you honestly believe Walker will be the 7th dman? I do not in any way. Not a chance

This is where I want the GM to make the decisions. If Andrea (or whoever) earns a spot then put him on the roster and make the coach adjust. If you let the coach pick we know how it goes.

The top 6 is set as of today 100% imo.

With Seeler as a semi-fixture in the starting 6, yes, I believe Walker could drop to the 7.

Seeler is not a semi fixture Bill. he is a lock a splayed the entire year in the top 6. Oddly enough he has earned a spot, no issue with him as a player.

Totally disagree on walker. We shall see. This is why they need to move out another D or 2. If they are rebuilding you make room for what you have in house then address it if those players cant cut it.

I stand by it. Torts decided very quickly that York was too laid back and casual and was in his face to try to get a rise out of him. Torts, who enjoys confrontation, tried a few times to pick a verbal fight with York, but found him impossible to goad. He came to accept that York does have an inner drive and then they were fine.

I hope so because that's what the Flyers do with young players. He has to prove himself first before he is allowed to play to his strengths. He should play with one hand tied behind his back and focus on the little things.

So, in other words, complete nonsense by Tortorella. York should've been on the roster on opening night.

Most coaches will lean on low-variance vets instead of high-variance kids if given the opportunity. Torts will take it a step further and put guys like Sedlak and MacEwen in the top-six.

We all know that Staal will somehow end up in the top-4 this year. Hathaway is all effort all the time so you know Torts will play him way too many minutes.

Walker, on the other hand, isn't great defensively... so Torts may actually not like him.

Seeler was scratched five times last season. All were DNDs. Hence, semi-fixture.

I would be completely shocked if Walker isn't a top 6 fixture. Assuming he isn't total garbage.

2 years now removed from injury. It is in their best interest to play him and put him the "position" to succeed so he can be moved later.
