1) Development Camp wrapped up on Thursday with a 5-4 (2-1) scrimmage victory via shootout by "Team Lindros" over "Team Clarke". The first half was played at 5-on-5, with the second half starting at 4-on-4 and then becoming a 3-on-3.
Alex Bump scored twice for Team Lindros, and then tallied again during the shootout. Owen McLaughlin tallied a goal for Team Clarke in the final minute of the first half and also scored in the shootout. Alexis Gendron (Team Clarke), Jacob Gaucher (Team Clarke). For Team Lindros. J.R. Avon (penalty shot goal) and Sam Sedley scored second-half goals to pace a comeback from a 3-1 deficit to a 3-3 tie. Samu Tuomaala scored the shootout winner for Team Lindros.
Flyers 2023 second-round pick Carson Bjarnason and camp invite Pete Sterling shared the goaltending duties for Team Lindros. Camp invites Cameron Korpi and Noah Giesbrecht were goal for the Team Clarke side.
On a shift-in and shift-out basis, Bobby Brink (Team Lindros) was the most dominating offensive player. He was in the middle of no fewer than a half dozen scoring chances. Other standouts included Emil Andrae, Bump (an incoming University of Vermont freshman draft by the Flyers in the 5th round last year), 2023 first-round pick Oliver Bonk, Chester County native McLaughlin (a seventh-round Flyers draftee in 2021 now entering his sophomore season at the University of North Dakota), Northeastern University sophomore defenseman Hunter McDonald (drafted last year by the Flyers at age 20 in the 6th round).
The scrimmage can be replayed in its entirety below via the Flyers YouTube channel.
2) Cole Knuble, by prearrangement, attended only the first two days of Development Camp. Also unavailable for the scrimmage, due to injury-related reasons, were fellow 2023 Flyers draftees Denver Barkey and Alex Ciernik.
3) Elliot Desnoyers had a scare on Wednesday from a hit delivered by Andrae. Desnoyers had to be helped off the ice, putting no pressure on one foot. Fortunately, he soon felt better. Desnoyers played in Thursday's scrimmage on the Team Lindros side.
4) After the scrimmage, Flyers assistant general manager Brent Flahr spoke with the media. He gave his thought on camp and updated injuries (no one has an injury that will force them to significantly miss their summer workouts or training camps). Flahr stumped heavily for Andrae to make the NHL roster but said that decision ultimately belongs to John Tortorella.
5) Among this year's camp attendees, three players played at least one NHL game last season: right winger Tyson Foerster, center Desnoyers and defenseman Adam Ginning. Foerster, who wore No. 18 for all of one day before ceding it to recently signed defenseman Marc Staal and taking N0. 71, is a Development Camp veteran -- this year was his final one -- and took on a leadership role for the first-timers.
6) Andrae talked about how playing aggressively, both with the puck on his stick and from a physical play standpoint despite his lack of height, is an important part of his game. He also talked about working on his angling defensively.
