Thanks for laying all that out. My friend would be happy as anything to see Tatar back! Marking it down. I think there’s some solid picks here |

That being the case, I'd like to include Soderblom rather than Bedard, if it's OK with you. |

Absolutely. A lot of you like him for next year. I have to give him a lot of credit he’s worked really hard. |

Ok, a bit of weirdness in the world of finance. A “balloon” article (or a few) was floating the idea of a bidding war for the Sens, pushing the price to possibly 1 billion. If you read into any of them, current pricing seems closer to 800m (Pens sold for 900M). A couple more “rumor” entries of 2 possible new franchises. As best we can tell the next franchise cost will be around 1 billion and if last time was any indication, it still isn’t HRR (meaning it doesn’t get included in final HRR for the year). I found an entry that showed Bettman getting a 1 billion dollar loan, which gave each team access to 30m. For a cap team, that’s just over 1/3 of salary. Now 3 separate transactions are being pushed to try and hit that. If all 32 teams are included and 3 billion is distributed evenly, that’s 93,750,000. Assuming the cap actually goes up 1 million (which is what they keep bouncing back to after saying maybe more) each team would take in 10 million over cap. Keep in mind that cap figures don’t include hotels, per diems and charter costs (or insurance). The hard escrow of 6% for 3 years is supposed to kick in after this season based on the original MOU. With Bally potentially leaving (Sinclair) and viewership down, 3 billion could be a short term fix for what teams are running below from down years. We’re just now getting 2021 numbers that showed every team at a loss (from 16m all the way to 54m). Keep ears open for those numbers |
