A summary of the IceHogs vs Silver Knights game that got chippy in the closing minutes; the revenge match is this evening.
Also tonight: Blackhawks vs Maple Leafs where Kurtis Gabriel could make his debut against his former team. |

Gabriel is going to irritate some Hawks fans. Apparently he’s an outspoken supporter of social causes like Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ rights, environmental and global warming causes etc.. sounds like he’ll give us more to talk about than just his face punching abilities and lack of hockey abilities. |

After the Trouba hit he’ll be kept on with the archaic belief he’ll prevent opponents from taking runs at hawk players. |

The best thing out of Trouba rhoid rage headhunting is Stilman responding to him. And clearly, Stilman is not a rhoid rager, like Trouba. And Raffi Torres before him.
(Also, look out for Landesgog at Colorado, he was doing headshot after headshot against the Blackhawks last time they played.) |

Stillman got his ass kicked, and then Trouba, clearly not intimidated, did the same thing the next night against the Av’s. So what good came of it? |

Good question. My answer, if it were me right now at age 61 and never possessing either hockey or fighting skill, I would have went after Trouba immediately and likely either been killed or crippled for life. I watched the two NY Ranger games. He was constantly elbowing Blackhawk players in the head. Constantly. I was already livid about Trouba before the Khaira hit.
You simply must respond. I can almost understand those who would make a judgement based solely on the Khaira hit. I cannot understand not going after Trouba based on his body of work in the two games they played this year.
(Hopefully, Landesgog will have adjusted his rhoid dosage before we play Colorado again. Also note he is their team captain.)
Edit: Stilman is the hero in this incident. |

Yes you must respond....... You send one of your heavy physical players out, he skates up to Panarin and tells him you better talk to Trouba and settle him down cuz if he doesn't I'm gonna maim you. Put it in Panarin's hands.

If Panarin gets "maimed", then Reaves takes out Kane or Debrincat?

Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Unfortunately, that’s what it comes down to because neither the DOPS or the Union will do their jobs and protect the players. |

One of the few good things about having a less talented/skilled roster than most of the league. Hawks will run out of talent to take out before NYR, and many other squads, will. |

According to Milbury, King is a lavender sniffer. I doubt the Hawks turn into the Madison St. bullies.
Watched parts of the Rangers/Sabres game, Trouba is not the only one on the team that plays to the edge.
Also watched the Winnipeg, Vancouver game. Blake wheeler was dominant before getting injured. Looked like a more mature Kirby Dach. But no way do you try him at a position other than what he was drafted. Heresay to even think he would be a better pro at a position besides the one he is drafted. |

I know you are an advocate of trying Dach at wing and since you just watched the Sabres this is a good time to bring this up. Granato, one helluva coach by the way, talked about moving 6ft 7in, 24 yr old, 2016 STL 1st rd pick from wing back to center. As you can see the kid is skilled and huge but wasn't developing so STL moved him to wing (he also had 70 games in the AHL). They thought having him play wing would help him develop with less responsibility. Not wrong to try that IMO but still no results.
Traded to BUF in the O'Rielly deal IIRC, they kept at wing too then Granato came on as coach and moved the kid back to center. His reasoning was the kid can skate, is creative and having him at wing along the wall stifled his toolkit. At center, Granato says, the kid can use his feet, vision and hands all over the ice to create instead of being restricted to the smaller areas of responsibilities that a winger is restricted to.
In other words he opened the whole surface to the kid and as a result he has reached his career high in points, in only 26 games, and is 2nd in team points.
I'm firmly in the Dach is a centerman camp but if a sharp NHL hockey mind comes along and thinks Dach would be better at wing I'm willing to try that. Plus you pointing out awhile back that Wheeler stumbled along for 4 or so yrs as a centerman, was moved to wing and took off shows it can work.
I always go back to the day after Dach was drafted and the Athletic did a draft review. The one hockey ops guy said there are only a handful of players on earth that can do what Dach can at that size. Watching the TWENTY yr old with ONE HUNDRED EIGHT NHL games, straight from jrs at 18 with no AHL games, under his belt I agree.
But as Wheeler has shown, and is a big dude too, moving a guy to wing can be the difference making change. But IMO 3 yrs from now most will be happy with Dach as the 1C. We'll know at the 250-300 games played mark (wonder how many NHL games Wheeler had when they moved him to wing?)........ Would love to have an adult, seasoned, 40-50 yr hockey mind in the organIzation evaluate that possibility though. Oh wait, never mind, the Hawks don't have, need, that kinda guy. |

Ugh...you are correct...with apologies to those of you for whom the violence is one of the best parts of the game (and I include some of my best friends in that bucket), but it's the part I dislike the most
@BenPopeCST
Derek King on Kurtis Gabriel:
"He's a big presence. He's going to finish his checks... If guys are going to start taking liberties on his players, he's the type of guy I know is going to defend them."
Said he'd requested Hawks bring in an enforcer.

Loved seeing that from him / about him. Going to enjoy watching some heads explode if and when he speaks up on something.
Still laughing at the over-the-top reactions the hockeyverse had to Toews asking us to be good to the Earth and his support for BLM. |

Landeskog fought Trouba after Trouba nailed MacKinnon the day after our last game against NYR.
Teams need players who will respond like Stillman did. Players who will make clean hard hits against any player - including Trouba - next time we play NYR. There are several who are here and more coming from Rockford. Altybarmaken will go hit everyone on other team in one shift and Barret is a real mucker plus is an agitator with a mouth too. They can play the game, though, with third line ability, could even play 2nd line occasionally. Barret's skating had been questioned but apparently is ok/better than Strome. I hope Theo would comment on Barret's skating. |

Asking a very low key guy to show fire like you'd see from a Toews, probably not going to happen, even if he is on low boil internally
@BenPopeCST
King on Strome: "I wanted to see some emotion come back. Like, tell me you want to be in the lineup, or you're mad, and I have. He's come in and said, 'I can help this team.' And I know I can. The big thing with him was to get him to stay in the battles. Don't accept defeat." |

One with class, one with none...I'll take the guy with class every time
@BenPopeCST
Derek King said one of his kids sent him this clip of Mike Milbury trashing him.
"I heard it. I heard it. I had Mike for two years. I'm not sure I was the player he liked. He was trying to trade me, and then I broke my jaw so he couldn't trade me anymore..."
"The next year, it was great, we had a great relationship, he was really good to me, treated me well. Obviously I became unrestricted, so he had to move me, and that's how I ended up in Toronto. I had nothing wrong with Mike. Yep, so, I don't know what else [to say]." |

Fifth NHL organization, 11 year pro, 49 NHL games. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest he is well beyond a "late bloomer" here. So what was the point of this trade? A courtesy to Krys? Beef up Rockford?

This is the biggest criticism I have with Strome. How is it possible he constantly needs a boot up his ass to motivate him? |

The Hawks thought they needed a face puncher. |
