So the question...Is DeAngelo really "toxic" or you just dont agree with his political beliefs so you dont want him?
Phil Kessel was supposed to be toxic as well. I honestly don't know what happened in NY regarding DeAngelo... But I tried to read about him and most articles I found ripped him for being a Trump supporter (completely irrelevant in terms of whether or not he could play) and it seems the popular opinion is that he was/is a bad teammate. Interestingly, I also came across a few articles/blogs saying that his teammates loved him. So which is it? If he attacked Giorgiev then yes, he is more trouble that he is worth. So what prompted that confrontation? But if his "main" issue is that he supported Donald Trump, people need to get over it and evaluate his hockey ability on merit, not on political correctness. I hear he is immensely talented, but prone to mental lapses, key turnovers, and bad penalties.... that sounds strikingly familiar doesnt it? |

@amonion. He’s been suspended for homophobic and racist comments in juniors and the ahl. He got into a physical altercation with his goalie post game in which Krieder had to step in. I haven’t heard this is fact but rumour has it he stole k’andre miller’s puck for his first goal. A black player, maybe coincidence, maybe not. I think his political views have very little to do with it. As RW said 30 teams passed on him. He has skills but looks like he might be toast in this lg. |

What are yinz's thoughts on Fitzgerald? He has a little bit of the old boys club vibe about him but I'm not so sure that's accurate. My only real memory of him was him pounding the table telling GMJR to get Oshie instead of Kessel haha.
Would a 3rd round pick for Fitzgerald work? I don't feel that strongly about Fitzy but I'd gladly trade a draft pick to ensure we don't end up with Chiarelli lol.

Gillis is an under rated option, I think he would do good things for this roster. |

He's definitely a d-bag but to be fair 30 teams passed on him at $4.8M cap hit. If the Rangers dump him @ 50% retention for a 7th rd pick, I'm sure someone will bite.
I don't think the Penguins should get him. However, if Letang is out for a long period of time.... it might be worth bringing him on with a reduced cap hit as a stop gap and then putting him right back on waivers.
Again, probably not worth it but Pens need to do something about their D and paying premium assets for a temporary solution is an even worse idea. |

I doubt teams stayed away from him because GMRW calls him a toxic person. Teams still have players like E. Kane and the like. They didn't want his cap hit at the moment. I guarantee someone trades for him at some point this summer. Not saying it should be Pittsburgh but someone will. Don't worry- this is GMRW just trying to sound important. Again. Spare me your morals. Talk about hockey. |

Yup...The Canadiens are a better team than a lot gave them credit for last season
mainly due to some major injuries. Now they're young guys are looking even more grown and better this year plus they're healthy. Id say a factor of him wanting to stay with them is because they are headed in a great direction and he's been a part of that.

That's basically how I felt about them and why they scared me despite their record.
I know they also made some improvements, but does anyone feel a little different now about losing to the Habs seeing how they're doing now. (Maybe not because the Pens didn't seem to show up, but about the quality of the Habs.) |

Jarry is starting to remind of MAF. You can visibly see his confidence drain out of him after bad goals. DeSmith is different in that regard. He's not a starting NHL tender, but when he gives up a goal, I still expect him to make the next save. With Jarry, I kind of feel like the floodgates are opening if he gives up a bad goal. |

For what its worth regarding the puck incident that was flying around twitter last night the team came out and said that ADA gave the puck to the trainers immediately and they were framing it for K'Andre.

Ray Shero is available.
Stay away from Fritzy. He's ours. Our cheap owners just didn't want to pay him until his current contract ran out. |

I've talked about this series in locker rooms that consist of mainly Habs fans, not to mention family and friends who are Hab diehards. They pretty much all think if the Pens had Price and not Murray, they would of swept the Habs haha that the Pens were the better team for 3.5 games. They all ask what happened to the Pens in the last half of game 4...for which I have no answer. All the Pens players were playing like they hadnt slept in a week and had just lost their puppies.

Their D has got to be one of the best in the league. Obviously they have Carey price. That’s a lethal combo kind of like the bruins used to be. Now with toffoli and Anderson lighting the lamp, Suzuki killing it at C they are a good team. |
