Don't forget the majority of your readers that legitimately tried to help you understand why Domi for Galchenyuk was an awful trade on the day it happened. But you were too busy lecturing people to listen. One of my favourite threads was you explaining that since Galchenyuk was a center and Domi was just a winger that this was a key part of the deal...someone brought some facts to the table and noted that Galchenyuk may have been listed as a center but played as a winger and took very faceoffs. Meanwhile, anyone actually watching noticed that Domi may have been listed as a winger but was playing center and taking hundreds of faceoffs. But even those facts didn't sway your opinion.

Same people that knew Domi >>> Galchenyuk also knew that Schmaltz, Dvorak, Keller, etc...were all the wrong guys to bet on. And that Kessel was washed up. And that Hall was a bad trade. Too funny.

DeAngelo and a #1 pick for Stepan and a back-up goalie was also another trade gone bad. Maybe Chayka doesn't know what he's doing? Although I hope we'll see Stepan on the list soon. Is Hayton top 5?

I'd rather be incorrect than obnoxious and ridiculous.

I think you needed to have watched Galchenyuk to see he wasn't the player some thought. Domi may not be a favorite of Tanner's, but he is able to do a few things well. He probably lands somewhere between his first year in Montreal and his second. Montreal would have been screwed had he backed up his seventy point season with another. As is, he's probably in line for 5M or slightly more. Although that was pre-corona. Galchenyuk's a UFA. What will he sign for?? Lol. Players who signed a long term deal recently, very fortunate for them.

What exactly did Domi do to draw the ire of Mr. Tanner? Kick a puppy? Club a seal?

He was asked to provide evidence for how awful of a person Domi was. Nothing materialized.

I don't know if Galchenyuk would have ever been a star player, but for glimpses he sure looked like he could be a useful "2nd tier" player. I think the habs really killed his growth right out of the gate. I see a lot of Hab games, and they just seemed to not know how to employ him or to give him any long look in ANY role on the team. They constantly shifted him from wing to center to wing to center and to wing. They even changed his role so often....time on the first line, time on the 3rd line, back to the first line, return to the 3rd line....it was constant.

For a veteran, maybe the constant shifting would be ok. But, this began from his rookie season and into his first few years. How can a young guy learn all the responsibilities of a position if he is constantly changing?? Also, the shifting up and down the lineup seemed to sap the confidence right outta him. He seemed more dangerous offensively first when he came up, because he seemed to play with some confidence. Toward the end of his Hab tenure, he sure looked lost and unsure of what the heck he was doing.

I think the Coyotes acquired a broken and lost prospect....and they could not find a way to fix him. Maybe, fixing him now is not possible.

Anyway, I saw a lot of him his first few years....and that is what I saw.

I saw the same thing. This is where watching the games helps more than boxscores. But Galchenyuk wasn't the only young player to be moved around the lineup. I look at a guy like Dylan Larkin. He played center, then the wing, then center, rotating lines, on and off special teams...but instead of wilting and looking lost, like Galchenyuk, Larkin persevered. And Larkin is just one example. Many other young players bounce around until they gain confidence and find a role. It was obvious to anyone watching the games that a guy like Larkin would fight through it and become a solid 2nd line centerr and future captain, while Galchenyuk would end up in the KHL. I thought it was one of the most lopsided trade in years, and the irony was that the analytics writer thought the exact opposite.

Tanner was right about one thing. GM's can be stupid. That deal was a ridiculously bad move by Chayka.

I am not 100% sure what this means, but Jackie Brown is the best.
