Eastern Conference predictions

Pittsburgh (1) vs. Islanders (8)

The Islanders are the team I'm rooting for in the Eastern Conference, and they have beat Pittsburgh before in the playoffs. However, I think the Penguins have far too much talent for the Islanders to pull off the upset. The Isles will put up a good fight and earn a couple of wins, but Pittsburgh is loaded and will show why they are the #1 seed. Prediction: Penguins in 6

Montreal (2) vs. Ottawa (7)

This is a series where I can see an upset happening. Montreal won the division, but the Senators finished just seven points back. I think Montreal has a dangerous team, but Ottawa has potential to make this one interesting. I think this series will go deep, and it could go either way. Prediction: Senators in 7

Washington (3) vs. Rangers (6)

Washington won the division, basically be default. The rest of the southeast division missed the playoffs. The Rangers finished with one less point and won two of three meetings this season. I really don't see the Capitals winning this series, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers ran away with it. Prediction: Rangers in 5

Boston (4) vs. Toronto (5)

Another Northeast divisional matchup. The Bruins just missed out on winning the division, and will battle the Leafs. Even though the Leafs have finally made the playoffs, I think they'll be making a first round exit. The Bruins are the better team and will show it in this series. Prediction: Bruins in 6
