Can Sabres avoid an 0-3 start in Pittsburgh? Nope.

Last night's game against Ottawa was the most entertaining 1-0 game I've ever watched. It was frustrating how it ended, but made for a good game. Miller has been standing on his head, but 1 goal in 2 games isn't going to cut it.

Buffalo's power play needs to cash in, and I think the offense will come, as long as they keep playing the way they have.

Tonight, the Sabres head to Pittsburgh, a team that comes off a shutout victory. Are the Sabres going to be off to an 0-3 start? Unfortunately, that could be the case. However, Buffalo did win the season series last year, taking two out of three from the Pens, both on the road.

Prediction: The Sabres head into Pittsburgh with a pair of losses, and facing the Penguins, things aren't going to get any easier. Fleury and the Pens are coming off of a shutout and Buffalo has scored one goal in two games. Last season, Buffalo defeated Pittsburgh two out of three times, both of which came on the road. Ryan Miller has been phenomenal in this short season, but has nothing to show far in the win/loss column. The Sabres have been playing well, but have not been able to score, especially on the power play, where they are 0-11. I think the Sabres will get a couple of goals, but the Penguins will be the better team. Pittsburgh 4, Buffalo 2

I asked Penguins blogger Ryan Wilson his thoughts on tonight's game:

Ryan: I think the Penguins will take a very businesslike approach to their 5 on 5 play and put stress on some of the Sabres younger players. I think the result of controlling the 5 on 5 play will result in some power plays and that is where I think the Penguins will strike. It could be a long night for the Sabres, but Buffalo does have the ability to stick around as they showed in the season opener against Detroit and again last night vs Ottawa. If the Penguins do not bring a solid effort the Sabres are more than capable of taking the two points this evening, especially if Miller is in goal.

The Sabres have an uphill battle based on the talent level for both teams, the fact the Sabres will be playing their third game in four nights, and that the Penguins have been resting at home. But there is a reason they play the games. Pittsburgh 5, Buffalo 2

Both of us have predicted the Pens to come out on top in this one. How about you:

I really don't want to see an 0-3 start. At least take something out of the 1st week of games. I don't think Buffalo is that bad of a team, but tonight will certainly be a challenge.

Matt Hackett has been called up as a "goalie exemption", meaning that Miller could still play tonight. However, Miller has a minor lower body injury. Wouldn't be shocked to see Enroth get the start. Sulzer has also been called up for the injured Tallinder.

As always, thank you for reading!
