The Wings come to town having lost their last 2 games and with 10 points in 9 games this season, but they will be missing 2 of their top players; Dylan Larkin for personal reasons and Tyler Bertuzzi because of his unvaccinated status. That’s 2/3 of their first line, if there was ever a time to take advantage of a team’s vulnerability, it’s now. It remains to be seen whether the Habs will be able to do it.
This morning, Alex Belzile was called-up from Laval and according to Ducharme both Belzile and Pezzetta will be playing tonight which means that if Brendan Gallagher is good to go (he is a game-time decision right now), someone else will have to make way. In his media availability, the coach said that he likes what they both bring, saying that they are both hard workers and will bring some grit to the line-up.
Ducharme also mentioned that they expected Price to be away for around 30 days, but they didn’t have an official date or confirmation about his return yet. 30 days would be Friday, but honestly, is now a good time to bring Price back considering the sorry state in which this team is? Let’s hope that they won’t rush him, might as well give him more time since this season is for all intents and purposes a write-off.
After today’s optional skate, Alexander Romanov did some extra work so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Petry in the line-up tonight and a third pairing formed by Niku and Wideman, anyone else somewhat worried?
On a side note, Cole Caufield practiced with Laval this morning and did not look happy which is a good thing. If he uses that as motivation to get out of his slump and show what he can do. Interestingly, it’s also been reported that after he was sent down, he received a phone call from Corey Perry. Perry might have gone, but he clearly still cares about the Habs and his ex-young teammate. Tune in at 7:00 PM tonight to see if the new look Habs can do better than the group that barely survived out west…

C’est le 2/3 de leur première ligne, s’il y a un temps pour prendre avantage de la vulnérabilité d’une équipe, c’est maintenant, reste à voir sir les Habs seront en mesure de la faire.
Ce matin, Alex Belzile a été rappelé de Laval et selon Ducharme, il jouera tout comme Pezzetta, ce qui signifie que si Gallagher peut jouer (la décision sera prise pendant l’échauffement d’avant match), quelqu’un d’autre devra être rayé de l’alignement. Pendant sa disponibilité médiatique, l’entraîneur a mentionné qu’il aime ce qu’ils apportent, ils travaillent fort et peuvent amener de la robustesse dans l’alignement.
Ducharme a aussi dit que l’équipe s’attendait à ce que Price soit absent pour 30 jours, mais ils n’ont pas encore de date officielle ou de confirmation à propos de son retour. 30 jours voudraient dire vendredi, mais honnêtement, est-ce vraiment le bon moment de ramener Price considérant l’état de l’équipe ? J’espère qu’ils ne le presseront pas de revenir, autant lui laisser plus de temps considérant que la saison ne veut déjà plus rien dire.
Après l’entraînement optionnel de ce matin, Alexander Romanov a fait du temps supplémentaire, il ne serait donc pas surprenant de voir Petry dans l’alignement et une troisième paire formée de Niku et Wideman, suis-je la seule à être inquiète?
Petite note en terminant, Cole Caufield a pratiqué avec le Rocket ce matin et il ne semblait pas content, ce qui est une bonne chose. Tant qu’il utilise cela comme une motivation pour se sortir de sa léthargie et montrer ce qu’il peut faire, Information intéressante, nous avons appris ce matin qu’après avoir été rétrogradé, Caufield a reçu un appel de Corey Perry. Perry est peut-être parti, mais clairement, son ancien jeune coéquipier lui importe toujours. Soyez à l’écoute à 7:00 PM ce soir pour voir si la nouvelle version des Habs peut faire mieux que celle qui a à peine survécu à la côte ouest…
