One of the most intriguing stories currently evolving is that of Canuccks UFA2B Jakob Markstrom. The Canucks keeper had a phenomenal season and many are even going so far as to call Markstrom the team MVP and a Vezina Candidate.

There is a market for Markstrom of course and this puts the Canucks into a tough spot. In order to keep Markstrom they will have to break the bank and then commit to Markstrom for the next 5 to 8 years...Meanwhile, the Canucks are going to have to sign rising stars Pettersson and Quin Hughes, causing Brock Boeser's name to pop up in rumors...

Add to this, the fact that the Canucks are sitting on one of the NHL's top Goalie Prospect, Thatcher Demko. Demko appears dominant at time and the San Diego born goalie is ready for a top NHL spot at age 24. ]

And now other teams are talking to the Canucks with interest Thatcher Demko. And three sources are telling me this had heated up a ton over the last few days, with one Vancouver source adding he believes there are at least two offers he's heard that Benning will have a hard time passing up..

That is...unless Markstrom's price gets too high and Markstrom has a less than stellar summer in the coming months...

Source: "Obviously, Jim knows we have to come out of this summer with either Jake or Thatch. But if you are asking me the chances that BOTH are still Canucks come December I would say the chance of both staying is less than 10 percent.."

And he added that four teams....Toronto, Buffalo, Edmonton, and Detroit have all showed lots of interest in Demko..."The Leafs and Wings interest goes back a few years actually."

Vezina Finalists...

Connor Hellebuyck, Tuukka Rask, and Andrei Vasilevskiy

more to come.
