San Jose aint getting any younger, and there core is starting to show signs of that. A long with the loss of talent over the past couple years, San Jose has a really shallow pool to choose from in it's pipeline. Priority stands at re-stocking the cupboard for the future.

"With the seventeenth pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, San Jose is proud to select, from Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League: Sebastian Collberg."

Despite a stat line that reads a big fat '0', Collberg is a high end prospect with offensive abilities up the can. At times, he can remind you of Leafs sniper, Phil Kessel.

Collberg is a burner on the ice, showing a real top end speed to blow past defenders. He comes out of the gate with a good first stride, and accelerates quickly into his top gear. He has a tendency to take the puck looking for a shot and then working as hard to get the puck back for another.

What also reminds onlookers of Phil Kessel is his shot. When racing down the wing, Collberg shows a real 'shoot-first' mentality. His release is something to behold, as it whips off his blade with real velocity and pin-point accuracy. He utilizes quick hands to cut through coverage and shows the IQ and vision to make those around him better.

With no points in his 40 games in the SEL, some may be confused by this high pick. Collberg showed a safe game in his time there, preferring to dump and chase, and make sure the other parts of his game were coming around. He didn't want to make a mistake.

At times, Collberg can be too individualistic and lacks proper strength to do much along the boards. As he works on his body and teams cut out some of the issues, we could see a new NHL-sniper emerge onto the scene.
