Join us for SlapShot Radio tonight at 6pm central on 102.5 the Game as Brent, Zack and me welcome Hockey Night in Canada’s Scott Oake! We’re talking Stanley Cup Final and happenings in Pred Nation including the hiring of a new assistant coach. That’s all tonight on SlapShot Radio.

The Nashville Predators announced the addition of a new assistant coach on Tuesday, he is former head coach of the Spokane Chiefs Dan Lambert. Lambert spent two seasons as the Chief’s bench boss, taking Spokane to the WHLs Western Conference Final this past season.

The important piece… his offenses have been highly ranked in the WHL… third in goals scored for last season, sixth in the previous season.

The more important piece… his power play led the WHL last season, converting at a 29.1% rate. That was second highest across the CHL and the 6th highest in the last 10 seasons in the WHL.

Lambert has NHL experience as well, he played for the Quebec Nordiques , spent a year as an assistant with Buffalo under Dan Byslma before moving on to be the bench boss for the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

Adding a new voice to the coaching staff could be just the ticket this team needs to shake off a terrible year on special teams. He has experience coaching several of the Predators, Colton SIssons while he was in Kelowna and Dante Fabbro for Team Canada. Lambert has had success at every level he has coached at and his power play expertise will be a desperately needed add.

Welcome to Smashville Coach Lambert!

Observations on the Stanley Cup Final

- You could call this a Jekyll and Hyde series as these two teams trade off on wins on each other’s home ice.

- When Boston is on it… they look positively dominant. Give St. Louis credit for being tied in this series.

- Zdeno Chara is questionable for tomorrow’s game five after taking a puck to the face in game four. I bet the curative power of the playoffs are in full effect and Chara goes.

- Even is Chara goes, the Bruin defense is still a bit short as Mark Grzelcyk has been in concussion protocol since taking a boarding from Oskar Sundqvist… Sundqvist was suspended for a game because of it.

- Both coaches have done an outstanding job in adjustments between games.
