Draft weekend has come and gone and there was no shortage of big moves around the NHL.

From Boston trading Dougie Hamilton and Milan Lucic to Philadelphia trading Chris Pronger's contract there were certainly plenty of surprises.

In this edition of the hotstove we share our opinion on which was the biggest.

For me the biggest surprise was Chris Pronger being traded.

Everyone knows he's not going to play again and the Arizona Coyotes just wanted his contract to put them above the floor, however, the reason I found it surprising is because he is working with the league offices.

I have no idea how someone working for the NHL can be traded, especially when the league is 100% aware he will never play again. Not only that but he's going into the Hockey Hall of Fame next year despite not being officially retired.

Everything about this situation is strange.

Tim Chiasson

Everything the Boston Bruins did.

The Bruins seemed to operate like they had absolutely no plan whatsoever this weekend and did everything on a whim.

They bailed on Dougie Hamilton for poor value then dealt Milan Lucic for a solid return. They started their three picks in a row with a good Jakub Zboril pick then got out the go-go-gadget-arm for the 14th and 15th picks. Then they went back to a great pick in Brandon Carlo in the second round.

By the end of the weekend they were the laughingstock of the entire league and Dougie Hamilton was being thrown under the bus - which is nothing new for a young player traded out of Boston.

The Bruins were definitely the biggest surprise of the weekend.
