Game Summary:

I’ll start this with some unabashed truth. One of the best players to ever put on the Blackhawks jersey is in New York. Kane is a game changer. Detroit has also been feeling the pain as well liked players were sent out of town. Neither of these teams had their strongest assets at this point. Detroit had to outshoot the ‘Hawks 2 to 1 to get a win and you could see a change in the body language. Sometimes you just need a win.

Jake Walman, I don’t think I can accurately put into words how well he skates with the puck. It seems like he creates opportunities in unique ways that we’ve not seen enough of on the blue line for a while. Seider tends to have those moments of “I can’t believe how young this kid is”. His vision is impressive and Yzerman scouted that one very well.

Raymond needed a break. He’s been working hard, and that tip was big for him. Larkin continues to contribute and has learned a tough lesson this year. That “C” is there 24/7, and you’re going to have to weather some tough times. All in all, it was just good to see the team stand up a little taller at the end.

I don’t like seeing 3 goals on 20 shots, but Detroit worked their way out of the hole. I love hearing fans get into the games again. When things are going well, there is a new energy. There is a new generation of fans and that’s really important for this game to grow. I remember watching pregame skates and Holmstrom would grab 4 or 5 pucks and stuff them through the camera slots for kids. He’d look around first, but he always tried to do something for kids.

I hope you got to enjoy this one. It’s been a rough run lately and there were a few bumps that made it feel like it would continue. Fabbri, man, I am hoping and praying he didn’t tear another ACL. We know it’s going to cut his career short (and has already). Just brutal to see the look on his face as he left the ice. Hoping for the best.

No first period Detroit goals

Chicago opens scoring with 4:09 left in the first on pp 1-0 CHI

Second Period Detroit goals:

At 2:53 Walman got Detroit on the board as he picked the far side upper corner with a wrist shot the knuckled end over end from the blue line. Seider and Chiasson on the assists. Walman’s skating ability really been a nice surprise this year. 2-1 CHI

With 1:26 left to play Detroit found themselves on the power play. Larkin won the draw back to his defenseman and skated to the net. Chiasson gets his 2nd point as a Wing as he and Perron pick up assists getting the puck back to Larkin who nets his 13th ppg of the year and ties the game up. 2-2

Shots: 31-13 DET
Score: 2-2

Third Period Detroit goals:

At 6:10 Chicago got the lead back on just their 14th shot of the game. 3-2 CHI

At 12:36 Hagg got the puck on net and Raymond managed a tip with just one hand on his stick. This came after a successful PK. Chiarot with the other assist. 3-3

At 15:53, Copp won a faceoff back to Lindstrom, the right shot Dman found Kubalik open to the side of the net and the former Blackhawk buried it giving Detroit their first lead of the night. 4-3 DET
