Listened well into the night....was soothing to listen to a win as I drifted off to sleep.....

Wondering how bad the injury is to Fabri....that kid CANOT find a break. It stinks because he's an impact guy when he's on his game, brought a TON of talent & relief to the team and is heard to be a solid presence in the locker room. The emotional toll taken w/repeated injuries is also large, so hoping he has a good team of mental health specialists to help him deal. So who gets the call-up if he's down for a while?? Would think that Elmer comes up seeing as he's already blown past the 9 game threshold at the start of the season....

Being honest, I'm not hoping for a race to the bottom, but I'd REALLY like to exit a rebuild by hitting a home-run in the lottery. Getting Bedard would be an epic get. Seems we're owed one, but that's just me. Look, I'm happy overall with how the season's gone; the emotional roller-coaster drove me bonkers, but we saw this team work its way into contention (still believe they would've been blown out in the 1st round, but....), and that's something not seen in a minute or 12. So, good on them. We also saw the gaping holes in the roster, which I believe would be addressed either via letting folks go, hitting some solid draft choices, UFA, or trades.....or a combination of the lot. Would THINK this team will come into the 23-24 season with a fairly solid line-up. Kasper will most-likely be in GR next season, unless he Raymons it and steals a slot. We have a dire need for an exceptional C. We desperately need to hard-nosed RD, we could use a strong 1B G, or a #2 G. Drafting won't get those for next year, so would expect next year to be a stronger version of this; in the hunt for a WC spot for a longer period of time, maybe sneaking in. One can hope!!

Thanks, Jeremy. We know your life's been filled with ups n downs. We've all had that year for the past several years. But through it all, you've been with us and brought us an escape from the insanity.
THANK
YOU

I was pleasantly surprised the Wings eked this win out. But defeating an mostly AHL team with their 3rd string goalie should be a given.

I would rater Fantilli, but that may be a huge fantasy as well.

Good to see the win... this team needs it. Losing Fabbri for the rest of the season isn't that big of a loss IMO. Hope he's not hurt as I like the guy and his compete level. I said all along that he's like Darren Helm 2.0. Constantly injured and not very durable. I'd rather have Sundquist back (who's worth more that a 4th round pick IMO). Maybe it's time to call up Soderblom if Fabbri is out indefinitely. Erne can go down to GR (which is where he belongs at this point in his career).

Stalock has a 2.70 GAA and a .920 S% in 17 games for the Hawks this season...those are not 3rd string goalie numbers. He has better numbers than any of the Wings goalies on a worst team.

Wings don't need to send down anyone they only have 12 forwards (including Fabbri) and 7 defensemen. Erne is one of the few guys on this roster that actually finishes his hits and plays physical. I liked Sundqvist but damn is he ever slow, he makes Holmstrom look like Mike Gartner.

I've been at nearly all of Fantilli's home games with Michigan this year, and while I think Bedard has the potential to be a super star, maybe even at the level of McJesus, but if given the choice, I'd take Fantilli. Players like McJesus will get you a ton of highlights, sell you a lot of jerseys, win a bunch of awards and maybe even get you a bunch of regular season wins, but guys like Fantilli get you playoff wins. He reminds me so much of Shanahan. The 96/97 Wings already had a half dozen future Hall of Fame superstars and had been the dominate regular season team for a half decade, but in my opinion, Shanny was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Fantilli is a similar size, with a similar shot (even likes setting up in the right faceoff dot like Shanny), and he likes to take and dish out hits, but he is one of the best skaters in this draft. It's like taking Shanny and giving him Paul Coffey wheels.

I'd be happier if the Wings moved up to 2nd than I would if they won the lottery.

If they win the lottery they could pick who they want?! IQ?

The good thing this year is that the draft is deep and we have 2 1sts. That'll help us plug some holes. Important to note that whomever we get most-likely won't be on the NHL roster this Fall, at least hopefully not so they can germinate a bit. Not against a guy stepping right in, but there's a learning curve which would probably be best attended to in the bus leagues for a bit. And, in reality, even IF we made the SCPO next year, it's going to be a hard row to hoe.

Been saying this for a while; we aren't being rebuilt to be a flash-in-the-pan 2-shot team, this team is being built to be a contender for the long haul. Any moves made have to be looked at through that lens, imo. I'm good with either guy, we need a stud C, a strong RD, and a solid G (maybe, depends on what's available and who could be acquired via trade/UFA). As much as it sucked seeing Bert go (LOVED his style of play...), the return will help us build a perennial contender.

Agree about Stalock... he looks like a very solid goalie for Chicago. They did well getting him. He'll be their starter of the future if he keeps playing that well. He shut out Ottawa the other day (unlike the Wings).

As for Sundquist... not the greatest skater but still very versatile. He's a good forechecker that actually has size. He was excellent at screening the goalie and has good enough hands to get tip-ins and deflections. Also a good penalty killer. He plays well on any line you put him on. He's an upgrade over Erne to me any day of the week.

Starter of the future? He’s a 35 year old journeyman.

Sundqvist is a plug. Can find guys like him anywhere.

Stalock should be their starter now if he isn't. His numbers are much better than Mrazek. Only problem is Stalock is 35 years old so i don't know how much of a future he has with Chicago...plus he's a UFA this summer. Maybe the Wings should sign him to either backup Husso or play in GR as the 3rd string.

Like i said, i do like Sundqvist and i do think the Wings need to get bigger up front but with some speed and toughness. Besides he could possibly be re-signed if Yzerman likes him enough.

Didn't realize he was 35...

Assumed he was a call-up this year or recently acquired from somewhere since I had never heard of him.

Yeah, I already know you're not impressed with Sundquist. We'll just disagree on him.

Yeah... I didn't know he was a journeyman until now.

Wings definitely need to get bigger up front with some speed and toughness. Right now they lack all those things. They can't forecheck their way out of a paper bag and they get pushed around. Tired of seeing other teams taking liberties with no pushback. Those two games against Ottawa were just an embarrassment.

It wasn't just Ottawa this season. Wild did the same with Reaves laughing at them (after he destroyed Hronek) and Mason Shaw (not a big guy) running around knowing the Wings won't answer. I think the entire league has seen the Wings have no balls and teams can take runs at anyone without having any fear of even having to scrap.

Yzerman has to address this in the off-season. Can't have teams taking runs at your top players all season long and expect them to produce properly or stay healthy. Can't rely on refs to stop other teams from taking runs or cheap shots at your top players either. Need to add a couple of guys that like to hit hard and drop the gloves. Make this team harder to play against and make opposing players more worried about going into the corners so they rush passes and turn it over or just flat out bail on getting to the puck first...like the Wings players often do.
