The Flyers find themselves in a particularly tricky spot with Noah Cates. He was a part of the line that Tortorella once called a “true third line that’s playing as a first line….” And Cates did have a strong season… He definitely feels like a Flyer in every way. He fights and battles and scores and shows a little more skill than expected…

While it may seem like Cates had a better season than he’s had before, consistently this season was pretty close to what he actually had in 22/3. Where he had 38 points in 82 games. This year he had 37 points in 78 games.

He’s coming off the contract that paid him 2.6 million a year. His value here is definitely a n it higher in terms of keeping his line in tact.
As you’ll see my blog above, the average NHL forward got paid around 83,253 per point last year. When you take it to account, the salaries are going to rise by about 8% if teams spend the cap in 25/26… you could project Noah’s new salary should be around 3.5M.
