After missing 8 games, Mike Hoffman will be back in the line-up tonight and since Sean Monahan still can’t play, Martin St-Louis has decided to split up his top line to bring Kirby Dach back at center. That was always the plan, it’s well known that the Habs sacrificed Alexander Romanov to get themselves a second center to support Nick Suzuki and now that Dach was able to build some confidence racking-up the points alongside Caufield and Suzuki, it’s time to try again at center.
Josh Anderson will get to fill Dach’s spot on the first line while he will be centering Juraj Slafkovski and Mike Hoffman. It’s nice to see that Hoffman’s return hasn’t resulted in a demotion for the young Slovak who’s looking more and more confident out there. As for Hoffman, he had a tough start to the season but was on a bit of a roll when he went down to injury, he had 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) in his last 5 games.
As expected, St-Louis confirmed that Jake Allen will be manning the net. On the blueline, Matheson is still out and the only pairing the coach would confirm was Edmundson-Guhle, since Savard is also still out, I believe we’ll see Harris-Kovacevic and Xhekaj-Wideman. The game will start at 7:00 PM and I’ll be watching it with Stéphane Richer and Benoit Brunet tonight in Sunill Peetush’s famed Habs Cave, picture to follow, if you’re a collector, his set-up will blow your mind!
