There’s been no shortage of heroes for the Rocket in these playoffs, Cayden Primeau has been lights out, Danick Martel had a 4-goal night but last night, it was Jean-Sebastien Dea’s turn to shine. The centre ended the game with 2 goals and an assist, including the overtime game winner which allowed the Rocket to qualify for the Conference final. What’s next for Jean-François Houle’s men? They’ll have to wait at least until Saturday to know whether they’ll be facing the Springfield Thunderbirds or the Charlotte Checkers in the Calder Cup semi-final. Springfield is currently up 2-0 and will be hoping to finish the sweep Saturday.
This morning, Josh Anderson and Team Canada were taking on Sweden at the World Championships in a quarter-final match-up. The Swedes took a 3-0 lead but lacked the killer instinct to put things to bed and Canada clawed its way back in, tying things up with less than 2 minutes to go in regulation. It then only took 43 seconds of overtime before Matthew Barzal served a sweet dish to Drake Batherson who buried the game-winning goal. Montreal’s Josh Anderson wasn’t much of a factor in the game, spending 14 and a half minutes on the ice and ending his game with a -2 rating.
Later today, USA’s Sean Farrell and Jordan Harris will battle Switzerland And Joel Armia and Finland will take on Slovakia. Speaking of Armia, he scored a beauty a couple of days ago against the Czech and it really gets one to wonder, why can’t he do that more often? I guess we’ll never know…

Le joueur de centre a terminé sa soirée avec 2 buts et 1 passe, incluant le but gagnant en 3e prolongation qui a permis au Rocket de se qualifier pour la finale de la conférence. Qu’est-ce qui attends maintenant les hommes de Jean-François Houle? Ils devront attendre au moins jusqu’à samedi pour savoir s’ils feront face aux Thunderbirds de Springfield ou aux Checkers de Charlotte lors de la demi-finale de la Coupe Calder. Springfield mène présentement 2-0 et tentera de compléter le balayage samedi.
Ce matin, Josh Anderson et équipe Canada affrontait la Suède aux Championnats du monde dans un match de quart de finale. Les Suédois avaient pris une avance de 3-0 mais n’ont pas eu l’instinct du tueur nécessaire pour clouer le cercueil des canadiens. Les représentants de l’unifolié ce sont bien battus et ils sont parvenus à créer l’égalité avec moins de 2 minutes à faire en temps réglementaire. Puis, ils n’ont eu besoin que de 43 secondes de prolongation alors que Matthew Barzal a servi toute une passe à Drake Batherson qui n’allait pas manquer sa chance. Quant à Josh Anderson, il n’a pas vraiment eu d’impact sur le match, passant 14 minutes et demie sur la glace et terminant sa soirée de travail avec un différentiel de -2.
Plus tard aujourd’hui, les États-Unis de Sean Farrell et Jordan Harris affronteront la Suisse alors que Joel Armia et la Finlande s’en prendront à la Slovaquie. Parlant d’Armia, il a marqué un superbe but il y a 2 jours, de quoi se demander pourquoi il n’y arrive pas plus souvent… mais je suppose qu’on ne saura jamais la réponse à cette question…
