The Los Angeles Kings announced that they’ve hired Marc Bergevin as a senior advisor to general manager Rob Blake.

Bergevin spent nearly a decade as the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, before being fired earlier this season. He had also spent seven seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks prior to joining the Canadiens.

The plan is reportedly for Bergevin to become the Kings’ assistant general manager for next season. He’ll also reportedly have a three-year contract.

Bergevin had the following to say on joining the Kings:

Marc Bergevin: “I’ve enjoyed my time away, but I’m excited to join the Kings and become an active part of helping the team reach its objectives. I have a great amount of respect for Luc (Robitaille), Rob (Blake)... it’s an honor to provide my input to this highly-regarded group.”
