Devils D Ty Smith was named to the All-Rookie Team.

As Fitz said "I didn't expect Ty Smith to be, Ty Smith." when asked about the young D. That is because Smith put in a fantastic first season and showed poise and control. Finishing with 23 points (21 of them assists) his rookie year was a success.

That is also timely as the Devils D is in need of a new identity and new pillars to build around the youth movement.

Congrats Ty and all others named to the All Rookie Team!


Burning Question.... To Protect or not to protect?

New Jersey Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has some big decisions to make whether to protect or not protect his current players for the Seattle Kracken expansion draft. Could Fitzy make a trade beforehand? Maybe, For now, which eight skaters plus goalie should the Devils protect?

Thank goodness that Jack Hughes is automatically protected for only having two years of professional experience. The Devils have many up and coming promising forwards which they need to protect. I’ll go out on a limb here and say they should protect this young forward nucleus even at the cost of a solid defenseman.

The Devils should protect 8 forwards.
Nico Hischier, Nathan Bastian Jesper Bratt, Pavel Zacha, Miles Wood, Michael Mcleod, Yegor Sharangovich, Janne Kuokkanen

Devils Defense.
Damon Severson, Ryan Murray

Goalie.
Blackwood

We had a hard time with the D after protecting Severson.
