Surprised. Definitely thought he could have gotten more from if he made it as a UFA.
I don't think the prospects will be that mad. Backstrom is a UFA next year, right? |

I dont know about the prospects. But im happy for Harding and the Wild to keep him. Maybe Backstrom gets moved to a team for a year. I also like how this is gonna increase the price of Lou prolly. And some team is gonna get raped trading for him. |

I thought there was rumor after the season that Harding could very well re-sign and Backstrom would be dealt? |

Does this mean that one of the prospects are on the move this weekend? - Brad Ratgen
That was my first thought when I heard it was for 3 years. To me, this draft doesn't look to help the Wild greatly by picking once in the first 45 spots, at #7. Picking twice in the first round or three times in the top 50 could get them 2-3 guys that will help improve them significantly more than the one guy they could get at #7. I can definitely see Fletcher wheeling and dealing a few picks and maybe a prospect like Kuemper to try to get himself more picks in the top 50. |

Bernier's value just went up a bit... If the Kings choose to trade him, which I am not too sure about. - fsanford
I think he is now tradeable, since we have a few goalies in the system. Kinda hoping that our GM comes out strong and builds a package to get into the top 10 in the draft. Just because you won doesnt mean you cant be aggresive and get a good prospect dman. |

Could be a sign and trade . Bigger return on a trade. |

Makes perfect sense to me. Backstrom has one year left, and isn't coming back after this year. Harding will take the starting spot in 2013/14 (or sooner) and the prospect pool will battle for the backup spot. If we're lucky they get a good return for Backstrom at some point. I'm glad they resigned him. |

If there is a market for Backstrom, it likely isn't until the deadline. Plus, he has some form of NTC, but there might be window this summer. |

So, Eklund tweets that the re-signing of Harding could be a "trigger". A trigger for what? Naturally, I start thinking a sign and trade for Parise's negotiating rights and then I hear from a very good source that the Devils like Harding. I've been saying all along that NJ kept their 1st round draft pick to flip with a team like the Wild for Parise's negotiating rights. Could it be flipping of #1's plus Harding for Zach's negotiating rights? Stay tuned. |

So #7 and Harding for Parise and #29? I don't like it. If they don't sign Parise in that case, they are out #7 and a backup goalie. I'd rather see them take their chances on July 1 with Parise and Suter. |

Backstrom to Toronto? Burke always stats that Reimer and Scrivens are the real deal. So Backstrom for 1 year might be a good thing. |

How is the Wild for NHL ready D-man???? All reports say Toronto has a lot of them. Could use a Franson +, or gunnerson. I could see something like that expecially if Toronto signs Schultz |

I see that, but he does have one. If I remember correctly, it's just really complex - may depend on a number of things like stats, team stuff, and may have a couple of windows where they can move him. I'm pretty sure it is not in effect in the last year at the deadline. |

They could use puck movers. If Toronto wanted Backstrom and they were willing to give the Wild something that Fletcher feels would improve the team, he would go for it. But I don't see Fletcher making any lateral moves this year. |
