Kopitar
He should have won it this year |

Stepan for Selke is laughable
Is he a good two way center? Yes
Is he in the league of the Toews', Zetterbergs, Datsyuks, Kopitars, Keslers, Bergerons of the league?
Absolutely NOT |

My money's on Kevin Hayes winning both the Calder AND the Selke. |

Too easy to go chalk, decided to go outside the box. Love the players you mentioned and one of those is the likely winner, but no harm in going off the board. |

lol @ Zajac
Just because he's the best defensive player on your team doesn't mean he's a legit Selke candidate. But, well, I guess when your team only has about 9 fans, they've got to be overly loyal. |

Totally respect your opinion Jan, but that crop of elite Selke candidates is almost uncrackable
Hossa, as great as he is defensively, still cant get a finalist nod even. Granted the award skews more towards centers
Backes is another one to throw in too, but IMO he needs to cut out the d-baggery to win the voters over more. All the other guys listed dont engage in that post whistle, scrum crap |

Seriously? No disrespect to Stepan, he's a good #2 center but come on

In the lockout shortened season, Stepan had 44 points and 48 games, and was a +25. I realize people have differing opinions on the usefulness of the +/- stat, but Stepan has been a +59 over the course of his career on a team, that over the years, haven't been able to score much.
I tend to agree with you that there is an elite crop of Selke candidates, who by the quality of their play and also their reputation, will dominate the award and it will be hard for a guy like Stepan to even get a nomination. But, I do see him as the type of guy that can be in that 5-10 range. I believe he finished in the Top 10 in the 2012-2013 season. But it will probably Bergeron or another perennial favorite. |
