Like to see him given a shot at that third line center spot. Say Clowe-Jo-ruutu/zubs
That could be an interesting combo. |

Why not? What good are the Devils doing keeping this kid out of the top-9 any longer? |

I would start Josefson as the 13th forward. He has not earned the 3C spot.
I hope that JJ can develop into that 3C position.. Up to this point he has not proven he is a full time NHL player.
Last yr was another disappointment both in his play and his late season injury. |

I'm thinking that with a healthy roster he probably rotates in and out of the 4th line. SO say we're playing a team like the Flyers who like to play physical, the 4th line would probably be Carter/Gionta/Bernier but if we play a team like the Red Wings than the 4th line may look something like Josefson/Gionta/Bernier or Carter/Josefson/Gionta. This is all assuming that Carter is resigned, obviously.
Josefson will probably also slot into the top 9 when another player is injured. |

He's 4th line material. Pull all the metrics you want, but what overpaid FW that Lou/DeBoer will feel obligated or stubborn to play will he displace?
None.
He'll be in the Swedish Elite league in a year. |

Depends on who gets traded, and if Carter comes back. If they could make it work it if there is no trade....
Cammbo - Zajac - Jagr
Elias - Henrique - Havlat
Clowe- Zubrus - Ruutu
Ryder - JJ - Brunner
Roll 4 lines
Gio, Bernier & Boucher in AHL on Standby...
Cap space left for pre-playoff push...

lawwwwl, I wish. Gionta just got a 2-year deal thats 1-way. That means he's going to be in the NHL for at least a year. |

i would slot him on the 2nd line of some KHL team. I want him out of this organization. He's a bust. |

He'll have an opportunity in training camp to crack the 4th line on the wing.
He's done nothing to earn a spot in the top 9 and it shouldn't be handed to him. He hasn't done anything with the opportunities he's been given when healthy. He doesn't seem to want to work for pucks along the boards, he'd rather drift into the slot and wait for a pass. That was self-evident when he played on the 4th line late in the year, he just stood there waiting for Gionta and Carter to dig pucks out for him.
He hasn't shown much scoring touch. Many of his shots find the glass or the logo. Many of his dekes that probably worked at AHL speed are getting stopped in the NHL, particularly the forehand-backhand-5 hole moved he likes.
He's a good skater but I wonder if there's even a discussion about this if he isnt a first round pick. |

Zubrus isn't a lock to play center. He has mostly played wing lately so it is possible Josefson gets a look. I'd like to give him a chance at 3rd line center. But he has to do something this season. |

We could end up needing him, wouldnt mind trading Ruttu/Ryder and or Zubrus and maybe Sal/ Mattaue if it would bring in Evander Kane or Sharp. Unlikely but its possible would only improve the team. |

Trade JJ for what we can get for him in a package with Zubrus. JJ has never made me a beliver in his offensive game. I'm OK with the moves we have made this off season but it's only enough to insure we have no chance at Connor McDavid in the coming draft. I would love to see us make a trade for Bobby Ryan but I think the cost would be to great.... |

I'd say one more year to see what he has and that's it. With that said,i like him on the fourth line with gio and carter (assuming carter is re signed) |

JJ isn't a 4th line player, he needs to be in the top 9 to have a chance to be effective. Unfortunately, baring the Devils REALLY moving a bunch of guys out there just simply is no room. It's a shame, I remember in 2010 on Lemaire's Devils both Josefson and Tedenby were playing like they'd be legitimate top 6 forwars for the Devils in the future. Somewhere along the line it just went wrong for them. |

2010 stats
Josefson 28 games 3 goals 7 assists
Tedenby 58 games 8 goals 14 assists
Personally, Ive never seen anything out of either of them to suggest they're anything other than busts, much less top 6 forwards.
Obviously, they both have certain talents, but I don't think either of them are even talked about if not for their draft status |

For a rookie year, 10 points in 28 games isn't that bad. Boucher had 7 points in 23 games and he still looked like a legit future top-6 forward. Their are times JaJo looks really good, but he can never seem to finish. Fortunately for him, half of the team's forwards are either over 35, injury prone, or both. He'll get his shot this season; we'll see if he can run with it. My guess is no, but I'd really like to be wrong on this one. |
