Where Does Jacob Josefson Fit In?

Lou Lamoriello has had a very busy off-season to date, but there's still a few things he needs to do before training camp in September.

Among them is re-signing Jacob Josefson. The 23-year-old Swede is a restricted free agent and doesn't have much leverage in negotiations, so he'll likely take whatever the Devils will give him on short-term deal.

Josefson has struggled to establish himself as an NHL regular to date. He's been on the wrong side of some unlucky injuries that have forced him out of the lineup for extended periods of time just when he seemed to be hitting his stride.

Josefson is still in the team's plans, however, and isn't waiver exempt, so he will be on the team this year.

The question is: where does he fit in the lineup?

The Devils have an abundance of forwards, and right now it's tough to gauge exactly where he'll slot in.

Josefson is a natural center, and the team seems set there with Travis Zajac, Adam Henrique, Dainius Zubrus (?) and Stephen Gionta filling center slots 1-4.

He has played some wing in the past, but there's a much larger log jam there. Lamoriello will move 1-2 bodies out, but even then I'm not sure where he'd fit on the wing.

I wouldn't hate the idea of giving Josefson a chance to center the 3rd line, but with so many established NHL regulars up front it'd be hard to bump them down or out of the lineup.

We'll have to wait and see Lamoriello's next move(s) before the picture becomes clear, but as of now where would you slot Josefson? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
