Do I gotta be the guy that says the only players really (almost) gurranteed to go in specific spots are the big 3?

Fowler, Couterier, Forsberg....drafts are all over the place. Teams are gonna take who they like. Period.

Does everyone really think Nichuskin is going to DEFINITELY go top 10? Cause I sure as hell dont

- mochoson

I'd be willing to bet money on it, the hype train is rolling full steam ahead right now. Even if none of the top 10 teams like him, some team will trade up to get him in the top 10, especially if he slips out of the top 7 picks or so.

He's not a clown, he's a starter NHL goalie. The circus that is the Philly media will be saying behind.

What was your perception of Bryz when he was in Phoenix?

- mochoson

It's all a result of his interaction with the media. In phoenix there was zero media presence. He hit Philly and the fan base knew they traded away Carter and Richards to make room for him. he couldn't handle the pressure and has been widely rejected as a failed experiment.
Do you think that the Edmonton media would let him go his own way without stirring the pot again? no freakin way he would slide under any radar and as a result the Russian bear circus comes to Edmonton

I believe that he will. Maybe not in the top 5 but definatly in the top 10. Like you said it's all about who teams like. I personally believe that Ristolainen will be taken before players like Nurse.

do you also sell used cars to blind widows on pension? no one is buying that
- gzatron

Don't care if your buying it. It's a common fallacy around the league, especially from Ottawa and Edmonton fans. Believe what you want, I coudn't care less, I am simply refuting an ignorant and false statement.

This is a complete fallacy. Heatley reported by many Wild players and coaches as top locker room presence. Highly regarded by his teammates. Get your facts straight sir.

and what about his teammates in SJ or OTT?

Monahan will fit nicely if he's available at 7. Would love the oilers to pick up size up front via free agency or trade. Ex.Horton, clarkson or iggy.

Can you imagine Iggy on the Oilers? It wont happen but to see the Flames loyal fans.... meltdown? burnout? (insert fire related pun here)

Frankly we could give a (frank) less about Heater... He and his contract can stay with the wild...

Ok. So as I've said multiple times (and nobody listens to me) TRY and make a trade involving whoever for an early second round pick and draft Fucale if he's still around. If not, then draft Tristan Jarry. Give either about a year or two and I guarantee that they will be NHL ready. I've watched Jarry play and he is sensational. But hey, what do I know?
- mbxiphos1527

Jarry is most likely to be around for our second pick and I think he might be the better goalie. I would use our pick in the second round on him.

I still say we need to trade up with Carolina. We should try to trade Habby's rights to NYI for Streits. NYI needs 2 goalies. Getting habby on a year contract before July 1 takes a lot of pressure off them. Streit is going to get 5 mill offers from numerous teams. He is the ONLY 1-2 dman available by UFA and thus the only one we can get. He is 35, signing him till he is 38 should be pretty safe.

I would however trade Nick at that point. With the minutes that Smid, Justin, Petry and Streit can eat up there is no use have someone getting over 3 mill as our 6th guy. He might be a great piece to use in a trade to get us the fifth pick from Carolina. I would also see if they want the very cheap fighter Brown. He is useless offensively and defensively. MacT wants a higher level of compete and Brown doesn't bring that to the table. We still might have to throw in more like Gernat but we were never going to play him anyways. Those 3 should move us into 5 pretty easily I would think. We can do a pick if we need.

The big point of the draft is IMO I would rather trade our pick and another to get a "sure thing" then to gamble on late round guys. Looking at the scouting reports, everyone agrees on those 6. I would do anything to move even up 1 spot. I would trade our first and 2 seconds to move to third or fourth pick + schultz and a d prospect.

You tell me! I don't follow either team, but I've never heard anything to the contrary other than fan conjecture. I know what's been said about him here by the organization and the media and it's all been positive. He's helped mentor some of the kids and voluntarily traveled with the team after his season ending injury. Not one negative thing has been reported about his locker room presence or his character in Minne.

"A number of people who have started crawling out of the woodwork and calling Heatley a locker room cancer and a bad character guy. While most actual NHL sources completely dispute this claim, it's an easy one to make. "

After N Schultz and Brown are gone, who's gonna be our muscle? We have nobody after that. I've suggested a million times to trade prospects with Montreal to get Dalton Thrower (who's NHL ready) but nobody agrees with me. He fights and hits to kill you.

Fine with me. Heatley may not be the 50 goal scorer he once was, but he's still a valuable commodity on any team. Unfortunately his contract might be a bit to steep for the Wild to hang on to him given the Suter, Parise and Pommer contracts.

Unfortunately for the Wild, I don't think they can keep him. I know the media has said they want to hold on to him, but that might just be wishful thinking. Holding on to him would make for an awfully tight cap season, and that would probably mean saying goodbye to Cullen. He would be difficult to replace if he's allowed to walk.

I'm not sure where he'll end up, still a lot of conjecture surrounding Heater that doesn't bode well for him, but rest assured he'll be highly sought after at a much cheaper price, that is if he's willing to sign a contract much closer to his actual market value. Personally I think a lot of teams would be interested in him if he would settle for something in the ball park of $3 - 4 million per.

I'd be willing to bet that the Oilers won't be a team that offers anything. He turned them down once, he won't get the opportunity to do it again.

Why does everyone think trading down is a good option??? History has shown that more often than not your giving up the best player. Oil need to be aggressive and move up into anywhere in the top 5 and take whoever falls to them. If the AVS are truly listening to offers for the 1st overall we need to make a big pitch for that as either Jone's or Mackinnon would be immediate difference makers in our lineup.
