7th and a 2014 second for Jenner and the 14th.

We take horvat and have Jenner ready to take over gagners spot in a year or two.

That's how you move down in the draft folks.

- Miller - I agree, price will be too high for a 1 season contract

- Loungo for Dipietro - As sad as it may seem this might be what it takes to move him, one bad contract for another, NYI get a good goalie with a very bad contract and Van gets a contract that is cheaper to buy out the Loungo's.

- Streit - At 5 mil he is too overpaid, if you could count on him to shutdown the opponents top line each night as well, then sure pay him but he isn't that player. The Oilers have had too many bad contracts over the years, no need to add another one.- I do agree that Klefbom will be better served to play a year in the AHL but i we go with a defensive group of Streit, Belov, Petry, J.Shultz, Smid and N.Shultz we are in for a long season. That group as a whole is very very week defensively.

- Craig Button - $%^#$ Next!!!

- If we don't trade our 7th in a deal for a NHL player that will help us I don't see any issue in using it and drafting Nurse. I know we have a bunch in the system but we don't know who\when they will make it to the big show and if they will end up being a top 1-2, 3-4 or bottom pairing dman. You can never have too many possible bluechip dmen.

- We don't need to pick up a goalie like Smith, Backstrom, etc. If the Oilers at all think Dubynk could be their guy, he has 1 year left on his contract, they find some backup (Emery) and give Dubnyk the full work load of a starter and see if he can handle it, none of this splitting time stuff.

- EastCoastOiler

at 5 per for three yrs it's be a gross overpayment for what he offers. He's on the down swing. I like the Oilers and hope they don't sign up for this. I'm praying the rags sign him

I'd rather seen Oscar Klefbom playing in the AHL for a season than being the #7 guy on the Oilers, only seeing partial action. He's a kid and a year in the minors wouldn't kill him.

- Maxbone

I think the affliction you suffer from is called "manic". You're like a roller coaster Richie! Just a couple of months ago you were touting Klefbom as the next Lidstrom and lobbying for him to start in the top 4 and now you say he can stay in the minors for another season????

I admire your passion Richie, but you change your mind more than a 16 year old debutante.

Bring in Dave Tippet and Dubnuk will win 40 games next year. Bring in Danny Heatley after his buyout to help in the room with the Kids, and maybe Wade Redden, problem solved, for cheap.
- Jimmy_wiener

Bring in Danny Heatley, the cancer of all locker room cancers, to help the kids.

Why wouldn't you be interested in Jonathan Bernier?
- lkeh73

Because he's a (frank)ing donkey who doesn't know anything about hockey.... Especially goaltending.

While I respect your opinion, I'm pretty sure Bernier knows a few things about hockey.

you're the guy who said anyone trading for a backup goalie is an idiot, when almost every single goalie starts as a back up, how do you think Columbus liked their trade for a backup? Go write about soccer.

He is a Frankin AllStar.....Just joking about Heatley, but why the Oilers aren't all over Tippett to teach that young core how to really play is beyond me??

I bet MacT will give him that with Whitney Gone. Oil have any interest in Bryz if he gets Bought out??
- Jimmy_wiener

They better not have any interest in Bryz WHEN he gets bought out. Let him go back to the KHL.

Not that it means anything, but button's top 8 picks go like this

Jones
Mackinnon
Drouin
Barkov
Nurse
Monahan
Lindholm
Nichushkin

You gotta think that at least one team will take Val before buffalo at 8.

If he's available at 7 you take him. If nurse or lindholm somehow get taken in the top 6 (which isn't highly unlikely, but unlikely nonetheless) the oilers are walking away with a steal of a player should they decide to keep the pick.

Assuming the two who would most likely drop being Monahan or Nichushkin both guys are NHL ready and would be terrific assets going forward. Monahan could find himself on the third line taking split time at center to learn the ropes with minimal expectation.

Nichushkin could play 2nd line wing if he needs to providing big body presense we desperately need in the top 6. If the oilers sign a Clowe/clarkson/Horton. Val fits in nice on the third line as well. Him paajarvi and horcoff (if not bought out) could be a big solid third line on both sides of the puck. Nichushkin proved he can play third line in the KHL as well as top Line minutes in the playoffs.

As far as the draft goes Barkov, Monahan, and Nichushkin are the only guys who i think the oilers should be eyeing by either moving up to 4/5 or staying at 7. If Edmonton gets none of the above I would move down maybe trying the Columbus deal or trading to Winnipeg or Philly for their pick + something

Edit: I'm not saying I agree with anything Craig button says, but I'm just saying that in the event that a nurse lindholm or ristolainen move into the top six. This is what I'd like to do

By saying "you keep hearing", do you mean going through your Twitter timeline and watching TSN?

And Craig Button is a joke, I respect that he tries to be different from the consensus, but if he's going to do that he needs to back it up with actual stats and facts other than just saying that he really likes player X and isn't as optimistic about player Y.

This trade would be great for us but I'd grab Gauthier with the pick if he's still there

I'd do that. Jenner would be ready to play even before that. He's what I think our draft should look like (even though I'm gonna get torn right apart from this) :

1st round: - Draft Monahan/Nurse/Horvat
- Trade be pick & someone else down to Columbus for their 14th & 19th.

2nd round: - Make a trade to get an early second round pick. With that pick draft Fucale or some other player who didn't make the first round for some reason.
- With our original pick 37th overall, draft William Carrier or Shea Theodore.
- With our pick from Anaheim, draft Laurent Dauphin.
5th round: - Draft Ben Harpur. Big, physical and QUALITY defenceman.
6th round: - Draft Connor Honey. Local kid, 19 yrs old and puts up very good points considering he played for the worst team in the WHL.

That's how I'm seeing things.

Do I gotta be the guy that says the only players really (almost) gurranteed to go in specific spots are the big 3?

Fowler, Couterier, Forsberg....drafts are all over the place. Teams are gonna take who they like. Period.

Does everyone really think Nichuskin is going to DEFINITELY go top 10? Cause I sure as hell dont

He's not a clown, he's a starter NHL goalie. The circus that is the Philly media will be saying behind.

What was your perception of Bryz when he was in Phoenix?

This is a complete fallacy. Heatley reported by many Wild players and coaches as top locker room presence. Highly regarded by his teammates. Get your facts straight sir.
