Without a doubt the biggest positive from Columbus' recent string of respectable play has been Marko Dano. The 20-year-old forward has hit everything that moves, registered a ton of shots, and seemingly has a highlight-of-the-night-type play every game.

The latest victim was Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Michal Jordan, who was turned inside out before Dano drove the net, and slid the puck across to Scott Hartnell for an empty-netter.

This guy is just oozing with skill, and as he gains more confidence and playing time from Todd Richards we should even more production.

While averaging 12-13 minutes per game, Dano has recorded 11 points, and 55 shots on goal in just 23 games. This while posting a team-high +7.5 Corsi Relative percentage on the year, and a +10.2 Corsi Relative over his last 15 games.

Dano is getting better every game, and we're seeing that in the results - both underlying and standard numbers - as he has points in three consecutive games, and continues to pile up the shots while driving possession in somewhat limited minutes.

Dano has fit like a glove playing alongside Hartnell and Alex Wennberg, and I think they should continue to play together at evens. That said, a couple extra shifts at even-strength, and some power play time should be in order for Dano considering the way he has played.

It's been a very disappointing season for the Blue Jackets, but Dano's continuous development certainly leaves reason to be optimistic going forward.
