- Fascinating interview on Sporstnet.ca with PK Subban… HockeyBuzz’s own Eric Engels did a great job on it…
- Interesting that right after they trade SUbban, Montreal gets rid of their analytics guy.
- The NHL17 trailer is out… both Shea Weber and PK Subban are sporting their new jerseys in it.
- Speaking of NHL17, NHL PA guys are still not part of the game… we could certainly add even more realism to the game… :-)
- Looks like Jimmy Lindros… errr… I mean Vesey has a “short list” of teams… Yawn! The longer this soap opera goes, the more I get glad that he didn’t sign here.
- The St. Louis Blues need to name a new captain after losing David Backes to free agency… Alexander Steen or Alex Pietrangelo maybe?
- The newest GM in the NHL is Nashville’s second favorite GM… George McPhee was named the General Manager of the Las Vegas franchise.
- To be fair... you can’t judge McPhee on one trade. He did an overall excellent job in Washington over his 17 years there.
- Speaking of Vegas, according to owner Bill Foley, the franchise is having trouble with trademark issues in determining a name for the team, especially with the NHL mandate that the name have no gambling connotations. Current speculation has the name as “Knights,” which I think would work well, playing off Vegas nightlife and the obvious implications…
- The angling and planning for next year’s expansion draft has begun as Vancouver has extended journeyman goalie Richard Bachman through 2018. The sole purpose of the signing was to expose him to the expansion draft and not have to expose Jacob Markstrom.
- Last night’s completely irrelevant and almost unwatchable ESPY’s show why the NHL needs is wise to stay with NBCSN… hockey was completely ignored last night… but it was nice to see the NBA Awards Show break out.
