Silly Season is Here Again

UFA Day 1 is in the books... for Pred Nation, things got much more interesting as the Central division just got much tighter with the moves the Chicago Blackhawks made. I think they were the clear winner in day one signings. They upgraded in goal and added a stud on the blueline to help their young talent develop. They currently stand about 2 million over the cap, however, I see Nikolai Khabi

Update... the logjam at the blueline is beginning to break... the Preds have sent defensman Janne Niskala to the Flyers for prospect forward Triston Grant and the Flyer's 7th round pick in next years draft. Another puck moving d-man come to Philly.

The pipeline from Nashville to Philly continues... Given that I am heading that way and the price of gas... I wonder if he wants to share the r

Today's edition of the Tennessean is reporting that the Preds and Shea Weber are close to a deal... well... we've heard that one a few times before.

They've been close for a little while, now that the draft is done (and Suter's deal is done) there should be some movement.

UPDATE - Team will announce the re-signing of Weber at 2pm CDT... 3 years - 13.5 Million

Solid Draft for Nashville

While day one of the draft brought a center and a goaltender... day two brought a little more D as the team made Roman Josi their second round pick. The 6'1" Swiss defenseman was the sixth ranked European skater by CSS and impressed Predator scouts with his performance at the World Juniors and World Under 18's.

The depth picks made later (after quite a few trades) will fill out the prospect ca

Trades, rumors, trade rumors and more were featured in the first round of the NHL Draft completed earlier this evening. I was hoping to keep my live blog going, but it wasn't to be as hosting the party was a little more involved than I thought.

The Nashville Predators got their two first round picks tonight... neither one in the place it was originally and neither one spent on a defenseman, m

First Predator Domino Falls...

tsn.ca is reporting that popular Preds enforcer Darcy Hordichuk has been traded to Carolina for the 'Canes 5th round pick in 2009.

Hordichuk is due to be a free agent on July 1, if Carolina can't sign him, then the 'Canes will get the Preds 5th round pick in 2010.

I'll miss Darcy, a really good guy... and 104.5 will have to find another player for their show... :-)
