BIG RUMOR. Should Habs Give Up Galchenyuk + Juulsen for Duchene+ pick?

Word on the street today is that a certain head coach in Montreal has officially had it with Galchenyuk and believes that unless his team adds more CONSISTENT offensive skill and speed the Habs will not be able to compete for a playoff spot. This comes from a source very close to the parties involved.

Victor Mete has arrived and passed Noah Juulsen (still recovering from a broken foot) and did so largely because of his speed. Some scouts I talk to say Mete's speed can not be over emphasized and some are calling him "the first D-man in the Connor McDavid Skating era." Meanwhile, Galchenyuk's unwillingness to crash the net and desire to stay on the perimeter more (see Joe Thornton traded from Boston for EXACTLY the same reason) has gotten Alex demoted to fourth line duty...

Meanwhile, Matt Duchene has looked very strong in Colorado despite his known desire to be moved. Claude Julien likes his guys and sources informed me today that Matt Duchene's past presence on Team Canada was often larger at the recommendation of Julien.

Sakic also really likes Juulsen and there are some out in Colorado, notably one of the people to whom Sakic may be soon handing the GM baton, who still believe that Galchenyuk has what to takes to be a star in the nHL...which he does if he is willing to put in the work...

The Canadiens I am told would want something back as well...maybe in terms of a pick in rounds 2, 3 or 4...

Should they do it?

Note: There will be no Buzzcast today due to a scheduling issue. We will be back tomorrow at 1pm...thank you
