As soon as the National Hockey League announced that Chicago Blackhawks Brent Seabrook would have a phone hearing for his controversial hit on St. Louis Blues forward David Backes, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the top-pairing Chicago defenseman was going to be suspended.

The question was how many games. Today, the NHL announced that Seabrook will sit out the next three games.

Chicago trails its Western Conference Quarterfinal series with St. Louis, two games to none. Both games have been decided in overtime.
