It’s Hockey Night on the left coast as the Predators invade the Honda Center to take on the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are on the back half of a rare back-to-back game start to the home portion of their season. They dropped their home opener last night 5-0 to Vancouver as the Canucks repaid the favor for Anaheim’s hammering of Vancouver in their home opener 7-3. The Ducks will be arriving tonight in ill-humor.
Nashville is coming of a 3-0 loss in St. Louis, a loss where the Predators only managed 13 shots and dropped their record to 1-1-2 on the young season. Anaheim is trying to figure out how to fix a penalty kill that gave up three goals last night and is only killing penalties at a 56.2% rate.
Tonight is the first of three meetings between these two teams, Nashville swept the season series against the Ducks last season, following up on their series win over the Ducks in the 2011 playoffs. Anaheim has not beaten the Predators in the regular season in over three years.
On the injury front, Nashville still lists Paul Gaustad as day-to-day, but his status is updated to probable for tonight’s matchup, Anaheim lists Sami Vatanen as out.
Two teams looking to right the ship after getting swamped in their last outings… should be a good one for some late night hockey. Game time is 9:30 central with coverage on Fox Sports Tennessee and 102.5 the Game and the Predators Radio Network.
