See if this sounds familiar....As in this is what we complain about at the start of every season..
1) We don't look like a physical team...ie no grit
2) Taylor Swift breaks up with more boyfriends per week than we take shots in a period.
3) We look slow when we know we have players with speed.
Based on what have seen so far, Clune will be sent down soon. Winchester will be brought up to replace him. Poile will make his mid season/trade deadline trade to get rid of one 'role' player to bring in more talent. My guess is this year it will be SSpaling and/or Halischuk on the chopping block as both are RFA's at the end of the year. Lastly, expect one of Latta, Watson, or Beck to get the call up this year to shake up the team.
Poile will stand behind his annual theory that we will be better at the end of the year than we are at the start. And for the 14th straight year, we won't be nearly good enough to truly compete for the cup. If you go back and look at the last 5 years, does anyone think NSH has the star power of LA, Boston, Pitt, Chicago, or Detroit in their Cup Winning Years? No we don't. And depth moves at the trade deadline won't make a change either. But at least we have a good atmosphere at the Bridge...

Another thing to ponder. If NSH is, as we have been led to believe, a 'cap' team, than one of two things is wrong. Either our owners aren't serious about spending money to get to the cap, or Poile isn't capable of putting together a team with the money. How is it that in 14 years, we have never been able to draft a 30+ goal/70 point forward? Hell, we can't even get a 60 point forward. That is tied to scouting..When was the last time we had a shake up in our scouting department? We are better than any team in the league in getting nice role players. We have never had a 1st rounder make an all star game..That says something. |

All you really have to do is look at the 1st round draft picks since 2005 and that will explain alot of things. It is pretty brutal. |

Tarnaskeo was 2 picks before Austin Watson. DP could have moved up to grab him. |

What a negative, gloomy Gus. Oddly, there is nothing to argue with your statement.

The kid has torched the Preds...but lets not get too excited yet. I will admit that I think the Watson pick is sounding like yet another dud....but moving up in the draft is not done as easy as most think.
When Tarasenko has played 80 games and he has 25G's, I will be impressed. The kid is young and is skating around a TON of out of shape players. When everyone has their legs back and he does the same, I might give him some credit. |

Sorry misspelled his name Tarasenko. Been waiting for Beck!
Corey Perry was a tool last night, Ducks will pissed off tonight then off to Mr. I have 8 goals so far Marleau. |

Hindsight is 20/20. Lets see how the kid does with a full 82 games season.
IMO there is a lot of luck involved in the draft |

I just want to start seeing better efforts from the Preds. They're notoriously slow starters. By mid-February they'll probably be rolling, but right now they're kinda sucky. The unfortunate part of that is that Pekka seems to have developed some bad habits in the KHL, and he's not saving games for us the way he used to. Our defense isn't chipping in with the goals like they used to, and our offense can't sustain any pressure.
If the team holds true to form it will be another few weeks before they really start to gel (this has been a tradition since 2007), but then they will get on a roll that will carry them into the playoffs. The question is, does Poile make changes to the team that actually improve it or do those changes halt the momentum. I honestly never felt like we were playing as a cohesive team once the trade deadline passed last season.
Hopefully the boys have a better game tonight. The Central Division is playing pretty well right now, Columbus included. The Preds can't afford to get too far behind.

Preds looked great for the first half of the first period then they looked like the Preds again for the second half. Hopefully being on the power play to start the 2nd jump starts the team again. |

Hate to say it but Josi will to score a few goals before teams give Weber any space to shoot. Just need to relax a little.
Is anybody at the game? Tons of empty seats! |

Well...the Preds have lost all three Shootouts thus far and guess how many SO goals they have? Z E R O
Pekka has not been his normal self in the SO either, but that won't matter until the Preds score a goal in one.
5 games and the Preds have 10 goals. |
