We have our roster for the Predators in the upcoming HockeyBuzz Fantasy league… thanks to the over 1000 of you that voted. Here are the top vote getters in each category and the percentage of voters that cast ballots for them.

Forwards
Steve Sullivan – 84%
Paul Kariya – 82%
Martin Erat – 80%
Scott Hartnell – 78%
David Legwand – 76%
Jason Arnott – 72%
Mike Fisher – 69%
Patric Hornqvist – 62%
JP Dumont – 61%
Cliff Ronning – 51%
Scott Walker – 50%
Alexander Radulov – 44%

Defense

Shea Weber – 98%
Ryan Suter – 94%
Kimmo Timonen – 90%
Dan Hamhuis – 78%
Marek Zidlicky – 55%
Greg Zanon – 27%

Goaltenders

Pekka Rinne – 75%
Tomas Vokoun – 21%

Some interesting results as some of the original Predators did much better on this survey than I expected, especially at forward seeing players like Scott Walker and Cliff Ronning making the final roster. I am trying to figure out how in the world anyone could leave Shea Weber out of their list of top defensemen for this franchise… I can understand some bitterness over the Suter departure but out of all the players on the list, Weber should be at 100%.

So there is your roster for the team that will compete in the HB league… except…

Blogger’s Choice… I get to add two skaters to this list to complete the roster. From a competitive perspective, I am going to go outside of the 100 game minimum that I set up for voting. After all… it’s my choice… :-)

My first add only played 17 games in Pred colors but had a big impact, both on the ice and off. I am adding Peter Forsberg to the roster… The second add is a current Predator that didn’t make the cut in the vote but is a key scoring threat, I am adding Sergei Kostitsyn.

There you have it…

Don’t forget about this weekend in Huntsville, Friday night the UAH Chargers get their NCAA D1 season going with a tilt against the Minnesota State Mavericks. The WCHA team is in town in what could be a conference preview as the WCHA is looking at the Charger program to potentially join the conference.

I will be doing the PA for the game and we are looking to bring a little Smashville to Rocket City.

Let’s go down and support UAH Hockey and help them with a great turnout for the WCHA visit! in order to help do that… simply come on down to the Von Braun Center on Friday night… puck drop is at 7pm, and frankly, it’s an easy drive straight down I-65, only about 90 minutes from Nashville.

The best news is… in order to pack the house… there is free admission! You can get your live hockey on and support the Chargers as they enter into a critical season for their continued development. So… free ticket… live hockey… what else do you need???

Thoughts and prayers to the entire Detroit Red Wings family and the Lynch family on the passing of Budd Lynch, a true great in the broadcast booth or the PA booth…

Random Notes

- I’m just waiting for one of the sides to pull out the ole “I know you are but what am I?” when discussing the lockout… silly getting sillier.

- Donald Fehr raised the specter of putting the salary cap on the table yesterday. OK… there’s your raise… do you think the owners will see and raise again by putting guaranteed contracts on the table?

- Watched the ESPN2 broadcast of yesterday’s LEV/Dynamo Moscow KHL game yesterday… it was better than Ambien… and I didn’t prepare a turkey at 2am.

- How soon they forget… now I may be crazy here, but does anyone remember how the KHL did an across the board salary cut a few seasons back??? And this is the league that Henrik Zetterberg says “they honor the contracts over there. If you sign a deal, that's the deal you get." Ummm…. No. but nice try.

- Stu Hackel nails it again… Great piece on why the players are angry… Read it here. Per Stu, the owner’s first proposal did more damage than originally thought.

- Dominic Hasek has retired… and in other news Generalisimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
