Walker and Ronning were sentimental picks. I have no problem with that. We loved those guys and we won't be icing this team so popularity picks are no big sin.

Walker and Ronning were more than sentimental picks. They carried the team in the early years. Ronning was a reliable scorer and Walker was the heart and soul of the team. When he had a good game the team had a good game.

It's slim pickins with the Nashville roster anyway. The defenders were definitely easier to pick than the forwards.

I can deal with the forwards chosen. I personally would have left off Arnott because I never felt like he was the leader on the ice that he should have been. Legwand still gives me heartburn, but his lack of offense is somewhat countered by his defensively responsible play. I had Tootoo and Ward in my picks because of the energy they brought while in our uniform.

With the defense, I was surprised to see Zilicky make the cut. I though Skrastins was much more deserving.

I went for Pekka over Vokoun, but that was probably the toughest choice. Vokie was unreal when he was in his prime. Pekka has been close, and I thing his future upside will eclipse the stellar play of his predecessor.

Our team would be lucky to make the playoffs if it somehow was iced against the long-established teams. I can't imagine trying to pick a roster from the original 6 clubs. When you have about a century to pick from, you are going to have a great roster.

I don't disagree with that. I even voted for Scotty. I just tend to think of "all time" teams as the most skilled guys. Walker definitely was the soul of our team at the time and my all time favorite Pred. As for the guy not preferring Arnott, he was a highly skilled player most of his career and our leading scorer his last season. His rep for lack of trying, I think, came from his age and size made him slow and he was slow anyway. That being said, for a career, he was upper echelon, though not elite but definitely deserving of all time Pred honors.

No doubt about Skrastins. He was the league iron man for awhile too. I think a lot of it is newer Preds fans who weren't around to see Skrastins play. Zidlicky was an offensive minded defenseman, and his defense could be atrocious at time. I picked Cale Hulse over him. I would have picked Berehowski over him too.

i realize the preds dont have alot of years to work with but realistically you guys shouldnt be allowed to have Foppa if the Nordiques couldnt have him lol :p

but on another note had they been able to keep those pairings of D (since they're all still in the league) this could have been a deadly team, the NJ Devils of the west (altho thats pretty much what they were with jus the first 2 D anyways lol)

Nah, I've actually defended Zids quite a bit and thought he got a lot more grief than he deserved. Dan "Own Goal" Hamhuis on the other hand...

FYI, the UAH Chargers hockey game is tonight at the Von Braun Center. Get your hockey fix. Paul will be on the P.A.

I'm actually surprised Geoffrion (sp?) didn't make the list, considering he's home grown. Proud as hell to have a kid from Nashville on our roster at one time. He makes my list every day of the week.

With the exception of Paul's picks, the candidates we voted on had a minimum of 100 games. I can understand why Paul would chose a hall-of-famer-type player in Foppa over Blake.
