Gostisbehere did look like a very fluid skater on the day I was up at Voorhees. I found it funny that there were as many players born in Florida as there were from Pennsylvania at the camp.

I'm with you, Bill. I don't want to give up assets for damaged goods but if you could guarantee he'd play like he did in 2010-11 than I'd be exponentially more willing.

If Read or Simmonds is the the asking price for Morrow, I calmly say no thank you to the Dallas GM, hang up the phone, and move on.

Nice article Bill. I personally would rather keep Read or Simmonds over Morrow. Hes a nice player but hes an older power forward who cant stay healthy. Flyers should continue to look elsewhere. Like you said maybe its a player you try to acquire at the trade deadline.

Agreed. At this point, I think we should either sign Doan, trade for Ryan, if reasonable (not likely), or wait until the trade deadline as Bill suggested.

Another power forward, adding to Harts and Simmonds, would be great. But to give up a Simmonds who is starting to come into his own for Morrow makes little sense. I'll take the cheaper, younger player.

Trade for a possibly injured Morrow? Doan't do it.

Seriously though, I like the trade deadline idea.

Harts G ???????
Schenn Briere Voracek
Read Coots Simmonds
Rinaldo Talbot Rusty

We still "need" that first line right winger.

I know most feel we have a hole on D, but we would be set to roll with that winger. Did Parise sign yet?

I disagree that we still "need" a first line winger.

At the right cost.. id take him in a second.

I would be willing to do a 1 year 5 mil deal honestly.. Worst case scenario, come deadline you move him for assets. Best case scenario he fits perfectly and you have a star, sniping, first line winger who isnt playing with the Pens

EDIT: On top of it he would be the topping on the cake for us for the shootout.

Realistically, what is the best we could get for our crap?

MAB, Gus, Wellwood, Cousins, draft picks, etc?

Agreed. I would be willing to go two years just because he seems to be getting only one year offers.

At this point, I'd really only sign a UFA winger. I think there's a reason Semin is still on the open market. If they could get him to take a 1 or two year contract, I'd be ok with it. Doan would be a fantastic addition, but doesn't sound like he wants to come East.

The Defence still worries me a lot. Without adding someone to at least replace Carle, It horrifies me to think if Timonen went down. I also didn't want to throw Schenn into a 3/4 dman role just yet. I'd like to see him grow into it unlike what happened in T dot.

Otherwise I like our team.. Leighton will assure 4 reg season wins vs the Habs and will allow me to continue to torture the Habs fans I am surrounded by at work!!

Depth players and prospects aren't exactly crap. I'd say that Cousins is pretty highly regarded by some, since he was reportedly asked about at the TDL last year.

No one will be offered a contract out of this camp but a couple undrafted players may earn invites to training camp in September.

Among the undrafted guys who are there this week, Clapperton and Hamonic are the ones who really looks like they may have pro caliber skill -- but it's hard to tell until they at least have the two scrimmages this weekend.

My concern with Clapperton is that he is smaller than even his listed 5-foot-9. When you see him walking around after the on-ice sessions, he looks like he's about 12 years old both facially and physically. If he's 5-foot-9, it's with his skates on. But he sure can dart around with the puck on his stick and it's clear he has good hands.

Hamonic is already fairly mature physically despite being 18 years old. When they do drills where players jockey for position with defensemen in front of the net, Hamonic can pretty much clear the porch at will against some of the less physically mature kids. (BTW you should see the mismatches against Oliver Lauridsen --- that's a bit of a reality check for some of these kids).

Its certainly a possibility that you may be "wrong". Naturally, we don't need such a player, which is why is used quotations, but I see this as a hole on our team.

I don't like Schenn at all on the third line. I don't like Voracek on the top line. I like Read and Simmonds on the third line - making it a very well rounded, skilled, checking group. Just my opinions though. However, I would imagine that our GM is looking at adding that top line winger. Wouldn't you agree?

Are they asking now?

If these players aren't crap, which I obnoxiously and erroneously suggested, what is the best we could get in a deal now?

Our crap for Morrow? Some of our crap plus 2 1st rounders and a 2nd for Nash?

What's real in the HB participant's minds?
