No guarantee hawks get a top 3 pick but more than likely a top 5 pick. But if bettman and company are smart it would behoove them to make sure hawks get a top 3 pick in this upcoming draft. Rangers got number 1 and 2 picks in consecutive drafts because they needed ( that's the nhl) the Rangers back in the playoffs for revenue and marketing money seeing they number 1 nhl market in the US and Chicago imo would be number 2. |

Had to double check the the name, would have thought it was PE.
Not sure about exactly what you posted, but what I do know is money comes first and hockey is second at best. |

Moved to #6 after that loss. Hopefully the Ott / SJ game today is a 3 pointer. |

Scratched one off the bucket list last night when I sat behind the Hawks bench. After years of sitting in 320, it was interesting to watch a game from that angle.
1. Tinordi is a steaming pile of crap. Perfect to round out a roster hell bent on not winning but dear lord....he is just big, slow, and bad....also looks like he has a box of rocks for a head.
2. LOL'd at an angry Kevin Dean hitting the glass behind the bench 2x in a row in a fit of anger after a horrible Caleb Jones play. All game long after every shift Dean was ALL OVER Jones and I have to think this kid is here and plays ONLY because of his brother........
3. Hawks bench is very quiet and you can see the frustration during games shown by 19/88 with slight head shakes and eye rolls coming off the ice with the lack of talent they are babysitting.
It was good to be back at the UC...man that place has changed a lot in a short few years. |

You are way off base! If what you said was true, Bettman would have quit the Yotes franchise years ago. And I also am a believer that Bettman will do everything in his power to make sure Chicago does not get the #1 pick. He is pissed that Kane turned out to be a great #1 pick. |

Took 4 spins to get the #1 O/A. Got bumped to #7 & #8 on 2 of the spins. |

Are you saying Bettman has out for the Hawks and has for decades? I must have missed the reason why if it was asked before, but please indulge me. Why would he care that Kane was a great player? AMerican born player, arguably greatest of all time, playing for an american original 6 team?
I am lost.......not the first or the last time on this board........ |

Good observations. Thanks for sharing.
Tinordi has been in the league about 10 years playing for several teams and has been in 127 games in that time, including 18 so far this season. Based on your comments about his skills, sounds like the perfect guy to have on a team that is built to lose.
I can't buy into the Jones theory about him playing on this team because of his brother. If Caleb is waived, released or traded, what's Seth going to do? Demand a trade? For a while I thought he was slotting into the lineup so often because he was being showcased for a trade. If that's the case, I think the plan has backfired. Another perfect guy to have on this team.
Interesting about 19 and 88. Wonder what they were thinking when playing against their long time rivals Bergeron, Marchand, Crosby and Malkin the past two games and seeing them on more successful teams. And they'll face Pavelski, Benn and Seguin Wednesday, three more contemporaries having decent years with a playoff caliber team. If Kane and Toews are envious enough of their positions on more competitive teams, maybe they will ask out.

Unless there is something in Seth Jones contract that states we have to employ his brother, it is time to cut bait with Caleb after this season. He offers nothing that a callup from Rockford couldn't match or better. And who cares what Seth thinks. |

Sounds like T. Johnson and S. Jones will be able to return to the lineup within the next week or so. Hawks sitting at a 22 man roster (13F, 7D, 2G) today so when both return one player has to go.
None of the forwards are waiver exempt. I thought Entwistle and R. Johnson were so their exemptions must have expired recently. So Hawks go with 14 forwards?
Doubt if Hawks go with 8D, so someone has to go. Mitchell maybe sent down. Or someone gets mysteriously injured and placed on IR. |

For a coach to be speaking to you after every shift and more so than Mitchell, and then taking his anger out after it hit the boiling point....I just don't see how Jones is being showcased in any shape or form. On this team going nowhere? Sure he can play, but he's even more maddening to watch at ice level then on TV or up in the 300 level. Crosby shoots it on net, and Jones doesn't eliminate him allowing Crosby to regain his own shot off a rebound and score....less than a minute after you tied it after being down 3-0. Shocker all the coaches didn't punch the glass at once.
Also forgot to add Blackwell was all in Letang's grill and wasn't a shock Letang took him down late in period 2. He was eye balling Blackwell all night each time he passed the bench.
I don't disagree on 19/88 and games like last night are only going to snowball as the dead part of the season starts to wear on these guys and they drop further out of contention. Why Max Domi woudl ever think Ruuta would fight is a debate for it's own thread. Just moronic.

Or they send someone down that is a scrub like Khaira or R Johnson that they don't care if they get claimed. |

Honestly, is there really any threat that anyone the Hawks place on waivers so they can reassigned will be claimed? Does it matter? Do we care? |

All good points. Whatever roster changes are made aren't going to make any difference. Just threw it out there. |

R. Johnson is blah. AHL/NHL tweener at best. Enwhistle is a 4th liner maybe. His feet are slow and so is his first step. The Hawks 4th line most nights is a good 3rd line in the AHL...... let that sink in. |

I agree very much with the retired numbers that will/should go up, however I thing Doug Wilson's #24 should be there as well. |

2, 19, 88 for sure. Not yet mentioned was 50. He was a very underrated part of the era. I would include 10 in the discussion, also.
I was at the game last night, sitting in the 300 level. The Hawks looked like they were skating in mud. Also, a lot of struggling to clear their own zone, and struggling on zone entries. It was a wonder that they actually outshot Pittsburgh last night, given how many games where they have been so badly outshot.
Regarding Caleb, definitely painful to watch. It seemed pretty clear they brought him here (part of the Duncan Keith trade) as an inducement to get Seth to sign here long term. I remember some Oiler fans posting on here at the time that they were unhappy to see Caleb included in the trade, and that the Oilers colossally overpaid for Keith.

They already have banners in the rafters commemorating the accomplishments of the players. Stop with the number retirements. I've ranted on this before, but I always found it really conceited that a team would consider a player so good that no one else can ever wear that number. Great, he was a good player for your team. Maybe put his name up in the rafters.

There are a number of pro teams that do the ring of honor instead. The Dallas Cowboys are probably the best example. I think the Leafs are doing that now, also. The Yankees have retired numbers 1 through 10. At the rate they're going, they'll have to start issuing three digit numbers. And the Habs have retired a ton of numbers. I was surprised 6 was available for Shea Weber. |

On the bright side, the Hawks generally outhit their opponents. Wasn't that long ago that this board kept pointing out that they were always being outhit, even as they were winning.
Tinordi was a waiver wire pickup. Nobody was expecting him to be as good as his dad once he got here. It's more an indictment on the lack of ready assets than anything else. In other words, he's the symptom of the team's problems, and not the problem itself. |
