Take Reinhardt and Okposo and give Buffalo Seattle's #1 pick (#2 Overall). Should Buffalo throw in a 2nd Round pick to sweeten the deal?

Thoughts?

Nothing wrong with SAm Reinhart but this doesn't come close to getting you the second overall pick.

Then Trade Eichel to Anaheim...

Thought:

Bad trade proposal. You wouldn't get the 2nd overall pick for Sam Reinhart by himself, let alone for a guy with a putrid contract an a miles-long injury history

I saw something down the line of Foudy and Korpisalo for Reinhart

I believe when Ryan Whitney, who says he's good buddies with Eichel, will go to LA.
But whoever mentioned Anaheim, that's an interesting possibility as well.

Why would they do this?

LA I believe is no longer interested in an Eichel trade. It’s been reported by different people.

Who is "they" ?

Sabres? - Because Sam doesnt want to be in Buffalo anymore
Seattle? - He is a pretty solid NHL forward to start building a team around

I misread it at first...I thought you meant Buffalo would GIVE Seattle their 1st round pick for taking Okposo. Which actually made some sense, but a bit overpayment.

Then I realized you meant Buffalo GETS the 1st round pick

There are not that many teams that can fit a $10.5M cap hit in a flat-cap world. Between that, the relationship between player and org eroding, and Eichel's injury concerns....BUF doesn't have a particularly large amount of leverage here. They are in a no-win situation.

And do you have a response to that? Or am I just supposed to accept that you're totally correct without getting any context?

Eichel having injury issues is a fact

The eroding relationship is a fact

The cap being flat for the next 3 years or so is a fact

There aren't a ton of teams that can fit his cap hit easily

There's a disconnect, they haven't given any team permission to talk with Jack. They are working together on the next steps in his recovery. He hasn't asked for a trade, atleast not that anyone has heard. And there are plenty of teams that can take on his contract, especially if the Sabres take back a contract.
