What we see here folks is Malkin has been the best forward on the team so far this season.... and by quite a wide margin at that!

Plain and simple. MALKIN wants to be the MAN. Can’t be the man under Crosby’s thumb

Malkin to St. Louis for sunny, blais and a 1st. Penguins would have to retain some salary of course🥴

Even though we'll see some short term benefit from this break. Can't imagine playing the last 44 games in 84 days will be good for guys like Crosby, Malkin, or Letang. Or that it won't lead to injuries piling up, but I guess we just take that as a given.

Can't blame you. This feels very cherry-picked.

This is why RWs fancy stats are garbage

Tanev has been an exceedingly more positive force than Malkin has this year to anyone watching, but RW doubles down on garbage stats that insist on Malkin being the best player on the team

His deep need for conformation bias tells you a lot about his insecurities.

It probably won’t end up being 44 games. League will try to shorten the schedule as more team get covvid and are forced to “postpone” games

I see an awful lot of Tanev praise from you commenters and I can admit he's played well. The problem is the Pens still lose the game when Tanev plays well. Now, when Malkin plays well it's usually a different story. So here's hoping Malkin can put a few games together at his ceiling this season because I find that very fun to watch and it usually results in a Pens win.

I have friends who used to/still work in the Penguins organization. Not in any front office roles or anything like that, but the thing I have always heard about Malkin is simpe:

Malkin doesnt want to play on another NHL team. He would be more likely to go back and play in Russia than play somewhere else in the NHL. The expectation is that he will spend the last year(s) of his professional career in Russia, similar to Datysuk

Now that has been the story for much of his career, that could change of course, but I dont see Malkin ever leaving/getting traded to another NHL team. Especially at this point of his career.

Malkin has been playing stronger but he is still making a lot of dumb turnovers. He has laways needed to walk a fine line between trying to take over games versus attempting to do everything and end up doing too much.

Key for the Penguins is better goaltending. Jarry/DeSmith need to be better.

If I'm the next GM of the Pens I'm trying to convince VGK that they need Matheson and to give us Marchessault in return.

Trick question because Tanev never plays bad.

I am very happy admitting Tanev has been one of the five best Penguins this season.

He’d be great in a top six role if players weren’t type casted at nhl birth.

Sully definitely should have had him next to Sid from the get-go (at least until Kap was ready to go). And this is not hindsight, it was obvious. I don't care about "spreading the wealth" if you have an AHLer sabotaging a generational talent. No other coach would have put ERod next to Sid. I don't know if any other coach would want ERod in the lineup, period. I mean, Buffalo didn't want him. Toronto didn't want him. He makes league minimum.

I don’t think you read the isolated offensive numbers correctly from the blog... he’s actually been the worst forward on the team... by quite a bit to!
