The next 8 games may determine the flyers season

2 against florida (both ends of a 3 in 4)
2 against columbus
1 against NYI

Absolutely brutal

How’s that brutal? We are coming off a long break , have been playing well, and control our own destiny by beating those teams

3 in 4 leading to a 4 in 6 with travel in between

2 sets of back to backs

Look at the schedule closely

Parity seems to be not as present this season as it's been in recent seasons. There are clear cut strong teams and absolute disasters. I don't think I've ever seen a scenario with the flyers playing as strong as they've been playing yet still consistently dropping in the standings. It's bananas.

Definitely tough, and that's not even counting the games against Tampa, Washington, and Boston sprinkled in there. They have to start by winning the games they should, like against the Devils tomorrow.

Yep. It's not a stretch to call this 8 game stretch the most important of the season and will absolutely make or break this team. Need to get at least 10 out of the 16 pts

Have you looked at other teams schedules, not many off days after the all star break. Not sure why we always have close to the top of back to backs every year , assuming it’s always eastern teams, and this year we have the most if I’m remembering correctly

Aren't your latter comments a strong sign of parity ?

Ghost and Hart should be a nice boost to the team.

There is something to bring dangerous shorthanded that makes a team more fun to watch. I don’t think we’ve seen a really dangerous PK since Richards, Carter and Gagne.

Agree. Hayes is tied for league lead in short handed goals with 4.

The IIHF award to Timo is sweet. They do have some crappy reportage upon the last trade. They stated the Flyers got rid of him and it was a surprise outcome that he could play.
Research, minimal research, would have added a nice humane aura to that transaction, for BOTH teams.
They wrote in the least #&$%)* informative and Flyer bashing manner.

" The Philadelphia Flyers, the team for whom Timonen had been playing the previous seven seasons, traded him, thinking he would never play again.

But Timonen persevered, returned to play with the ‘Hawks, and then helped the team win the Stanley Cup."

What I recall is that this team did everything medically and mentally necessary for Timo and that the trade was because BOTH teams thought it was a great idea. Timo was ineffective and a drag on performance but the Blackhawks rallied around him, which is why he got the Cup second.

That’s a poor, inaccurate reflection. Very irritating...nobody remembers it that way...what a stupid spin.

Edit: to be very clear...I’m referring to the article linked

I believe that the trade was only made after he had been cleared to play.

You are correct. I was at the press conference with Hexy and Kimmo, announcing that he'd been cleared to play. The tank was almost on empty for him, but he got to lift the Cup in his final game.

From what I remember... the Hawks had just lost a game or two when they inserted Kimmo into the line up in the finals. And then they won the rest of the way with him in the lineup. He wasn't a force, but I do remember seeing him go out there in limited minutes and play mistake free smart hockey. Which I assume is exactly what they expected out of him when they got him.

Honestly, this is kind of like a TDL acquisition. I assume he's going to start on the wing when he returns.
