Why in the world would we NOT target Andeas Anasthasio or however you spell it. He plays center, he is fast, he can score AND DET cannot manage to get him signed anyway.... - maxglider723
I think someone should offer sheet him, but I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) that he's been used primarily as a winger. |

Sheahan is a capable 3C and is way cheaper to acquire. AA is a winger...
Also AA has a market value deal of 2 x 1.9m on the table... |

You are right he is a winger. A winger that has to be absolutely sheltered or you are digging pucks out of your net. Only way an offer sheet doesn't get matched is if it is a significant overpayment. |

I think Sheahan might actually be a decent fit. He's better defensively than Bonino. |

He makes a ton of sense if you can look past last seasons extremely bad luck. |

Did it look like he was doing the right things and it just wasn't working for him? Or did he just suck last season? Stats provided by RW say that he's been meh and it looks as though he's just been declining the past few seasons when you look at his stats.
I don't ever watch him though so I figure you have a better understanding of where he's at. |

Well he started playing with worse players had possibly the unluckiest individual shooting percentage of all time. He is a fine bottom 6 center currently capable of 3c duties imo. |

with his current salary, he's definitely worth a shot. though his linemate quality wouldn''t be much better. current lineup would have him playing with hags and rust. If he needs to rely on linemate quality, then I don't see him producing much. |

I am going with no on sheehan. I see a lot of reasons to bring him in as a potential 4 c when we find a true 3c. The issue will be the cap. We would start the year with 1 million plus if we sign sheehan. How do we then get in a cap position to make a move on a 3c without having to overpay for retention? |

Neither of those guys are Luke Glendening so he would be fine. |

Only one way to do it; ship salary out.
Hags, horny, maatta, don't know who else to move that we could. I love horny's compete, but not for the price point. |

Hagelin was rock with skates on last season. Talk about regression. |

Personally, I'd rather the Pens stand pat than try a bandaid at this point.
Is Rowney an ideal 4C? Who knows? I think the Pens should open the season with him there and see how it pans out.
If the Pens are going to get a 3C, go and get a 3C who has a proven track-record in that role. I just don't like the idea of spending valuable cap space on a player that can be a 4C fall-back only to be left with less money to get the player they need. |

Rust is a much better player than what he had last year. Plus, he'd most likely see time with Kessel. |

And previously he has shown the ability to produce very similarly to Bonino

See the problem is this, Detroit only moves this player because they are trying to get under the cap which means they will not be taking salary back which eats most of our cap space which means we throw away our flexibility on Riley freaking Sheahan and that's just dumb. Next bad idea to flush itself down the rumour mill $hitter please Eliottte. Yes we might need a centre but we are not as desperate as Gay Boyd at last call on a Saturday at the country and western dance bar. - Dcoms
