It will be interesting to have Mailloux participating in the on ice work, see him against those he is in competition with for a roster spot in the organization. I watched him play many times last season, and his skating is what worries me.....it isn't horrible, but is it NHL good enough?

Im looking forward to see what he can do, if i was in shape i would have gone to development camp for sure but can’t do it how annoying. Hopefully there will be an internet feed of some scrimmages

I have a feeling that this year UFA day will be as exciting as the last episode of the antique show…

I will not lose much time watching that…

Happy Canada Day!!!

most of these defensemen are still a few years away anyway, but Mailloux is probably the most NHL ready of the said bunch

defensemen take up to 4 or 5 years to develop from their draft year, sometimes more. But this is a rebuild and mtl has the time to wait.

That being said, dont fall from you chair if mtl go get a RHD on the market to play with the kids and help them grow. It was a bit too much for them last season and it shown at times.

My chicken ball is telling me mtl might try to get John Klinberg (they once tried last season)

if that does not work, maybe a lesser name for the right side still, like Erik Gustafsson but has to be able to play on the right side

maybe, from what I've seen and heard I would say Reinbacher is closer.
Mailloux still need milage, didn't play much the past few years.

Pretty certain there is only the one scrimmage, late on the final day. Regardless, it will be a good opportunity for Mailloux to be compared to Hutson, whose skating floor is well above what is needed for NHL.

Agreed, Reinbacher even at 18 is a more polished all-around defenseman. The way he closes the gap in 1 on 1 battle is quite impressive I must say, especially against men. What do you think of Lebrun mentionning that Drury is quietly shopping Lafrenière?

Reinbacher is going back to school for now while Mailloux should start in Laval and go from there.

Could get a call back later on next season.

not surprised, he won't get full value though. I'd still make an offer if I was Mtl.
